About

A peer-reviewed journal Belleten (ISSN: 0041-4255 | e-ISSN: 2791-6472) published by the Turkish Historical Society, one of the institutions founded on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's orders as the founder of the Republic of Turkey. In response to Ataturk’s order that "A Turkish History Committee will be in charge of conducting a scientific examination and research of Turkish history and civilization", the Turkish History Committee was resolved upon on April 28, 1930, at the Sixth Assembly of the Turkish Hearths, which Atatürk himself was present at. In accordance with this decision, a "Turkish History Committee" consisting of 16 members was established, and on June 4 of that year, the committee's first meeting was held. In 1932, the first academic book on "Turkish History" was released by this group. The Turkish Historical Society is still committed to its objective of “scientifically examining, researching, promoting, disseminating, and publishing the history of Turkey, Turkish history, and related topics. Belleten, named by Atatürk personally, began publishing in 1937.
Belleten publishes three times a year, in print and online (April, August, and December).
