İlk ve orta öğrenimini Edremit'te tamamlayan Uzunoğlu. 1959 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi, Edebiyat Fakültesi, Prehistorya v e Anadolu Arkeolojisi Bölümümden mezun oldu
