The Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) is an autonomous apex body with a special budget dedicated to the mission of developing and encouraging science in Türkiye. The Academy's origins date back to the “Encümen-i Daniş” (Society of Scholars), established in 1851. It encompasses all fields of science, including basic sciences, engineering, health and life sciences, and social and humanities sciences. TÜBA collaborates with national and international scientific institutions to support research and conduct scientific activities. Additionally, it develops partnerships with science academies and umbrella organizations worldwide through working groups, grant and award programs, scientific events, and reporting activities.

The Turkish Academy of Sciences Journal of Archaeology (TÜBA-AR) was launched in 1998 with the aim of documenting, preserving, sustaining, and sharing tangible and intangible cultural heritage using scientific methods. Published twice a year in June and December, the journal is an international peer-reviewed and open-access academic publication. The journal has a publication policy that aims to document cultural heritage on a scientific basis, transfer the collective memory of society to future generations, and strengthen academic knowledge in this field. The applications, representations, narratives, information, skills, and cultural spaces of cultural heritage of different scales and qualities are documented, inventoried, and studied through oral history. The journal contributes to the understanding and transmission of humanity's common cultural values through studies conducted in archaeology, cultural heritage, art history, anthropology, and related disciplines. A wide variety of content, such as material remains, cultural landscapes, oral narratives, traditional knowledge systems, rituals, and beliefs, is included in the scope of evaluation. In this context, inventory studies are encouraged to produce documentation, and publications that comply with the principles of scientific validity, source usage, and transparency are supported. The journal, prepared in both Turkish and English, is available in both print (p-ISSN 1301-8566) and digital (e-ISSN 2667-5005) formats.

Throughout the publication process, the journal adheres to scientific ethical principles, and submitted works are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process based on criteria such as originality, contribution value, and methodological consistency. Ethical violations such as plagiarism, failure to cite sources, and breaches of scientific responsibility are addressed with sensitivity.

The journal does not accept advertisements and does not charge fees for published articles. Editorial decisions and preferences are made solely based on the quality and contribution of the research, without any political, economic, or financial interference.
