After completing his bachelor's and master's degrees at Istanbul University, Department of Prehistory, Karul completed his PhD at the Free University of Berlin in 2000 on a DAAD scholarship. After completing his PhD, Karul worked as an archaeological editor for Atlas Magazine, and in 2002 he joined the Department of Prehistory as an assistant professor; he was promoted to associate professor in 2006 and to professor in 2017. In 2005, Karul received a research fellowship at Harvard University and was a member of the editorial board of EJA (Journal of European Archaeology) between 2013 and 2016. He has been a member of the Colloquium Anatolicum of the Turkish Institute of Ancient Archaeological Sciences since 2014, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Archaeology of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA-AR) from 2009-2012 and since 2019, and the Archaeology Editor of the Magma Journal. Karul is also a member of the German Archaeological Institute, the Austrian Archaeological Institute, the ICOMOS Turkish National Committee and President of the Turkish Institute of Ancient Archaeological Sciences. Karul was President of the Istanbul Branch of the Archaeologists' Association between 2007 and 2015. Since 1989, Karul has been involved in prehistoric excavations and surveys in various parts of Anatolia. He was the director of the excavations at Aktopraklık Höyük in Bursa between 2004 and 2009, the scientific advisor of the excavations at Siirt Gusir Höyük between 2010 and 2014, and the director of the excavations at Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe since 2020. Karul, who is continuing the Aktopraklik Höyük research project with the Bursa Archaeological Museum, has been head of the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology at Istanbul University since 2019.
Prof. Dr. Gül Işın graduated from DTCF in 1988 with a BA in Classical Archaeology. She completed her master's thesis in 1991 and studied the ruins of the ancient city of Pednelissos in Pisidia. She received her doctorate from the Institute of Social Sciences at Akdeniz University in 1998 with a thesis titled "Patara Terracottas." She became an Associate Professor in 2004 and a Professor in 2009. Her area of expertise is Hellenistic Period Coroplastics and Sculpture. She has also worked on the Lycian Civilization, Lycian plastics, and burial customs.

VASIF ŞAHOĞLU is Professor at the Department of Archaeology, Program for Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology at Ankara University. He is also the current director of Ankara University Mustafa V. Koç Research Center for Maritime Archaeology (ANKÜSAM). His research focuses on the prehistoric and protohistoric archaeology of Anatolia and the Aegean. He conducted excavations at the Bronze Age site of Çeşme - Bağlararası and is currently the director of land and underwater excavations at Liman Tepe in İzmir. Following the passing of Prof. Dr. Hayat Erkanal, he is now also coordinating the Izmir Region Excavations and Research Project (IRERP). He has been publishing on Bronze Age economies, maritime archaeology, Human responses to Natural disasters, long distance travel, contacts and trade issues, burial habits and pottery studies around the Aegean and Anatolia.
He received his B.A. (Chemistry, 1997), M.Sc. (Archaeometry, 2000 - Phosphorous Analysis of Neolithic Çatalhöyük Sediments) and Ph.D. (Archaeometry, 2009 - Material Characterization of Ancient Mural Paintings and Related Base Materials: A Case Study of Roman Zeugma Archaeological Area) degrees from Middle East Technical University.
He became an instructor in the field of chemistry of restoration & conservation at Ankara University (2000-2013), Gazi University (2013-2018) and Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University (since 2018), where he directed the Historical Materials Research and Conservation Laboratory (MAKLAB). His academic studies are on archaeological material (clay/soil, stone/rock, ceramic, mortar/plaster/wall painting, glass, pigment/dye, etc.) analyses and their characterizations. He has worked as a researcher/archaeometrist or project group member of national (31 archaeological excavations and 5 field survey activities) and international (Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Kazakhistan, Macedonia, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia, Sudan, Syria and Turkmenistan) restoration and conservation projects since 1995. He has been involved in material analysis studies in the Survey Restitution and Restoration Project of over 1200 national/international historical monuments and areas. He also specialized in "museum education" and carried out projects with various museums and institutions/organizations. He is also specialized in the field of museum education.

He was born in 1969 in the Araklı district of Trabzon. He completed his primary and secondary education in the same district. Subsequently, he entered the Department of Archaeology at Atatürk University's Faculty of Letters in 1988 and graduated in 1992.
In 1993, he began his career as a Research Assistant at the Van Lake Basin Historical Artifacts and Cultural Values Research and Application Center of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. During his tenure, he completed his master's degree with a thesis titled "Urartian Belts in the Van Museum" at the Department of Archaeology of the Institute of Social Sciences at Yüzüncü Yıl University. In 1996, he transitioned to a Research Assistant position in the Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology at the Faculty of Letters of Yüzüncü Yıl University.

Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam Uluçam was born in 1953 in the Yenidoğan District of Beyşehir, Konya. He completed his primary and secondary education in Beyşehir and entered the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University, in 1970. Graduating in 1974 with a thesis from the Turkish Art Chair, he completed his military service and worked at the Vakıflar Calligraphy Arts Museum (Istanbul) and the Mevlana Museum (Konya). In 1979, he passed the assistantship exam held by the Department of Art History at Atatürk University in Erzurum. For his doctoral thesis on "The Development of Turkish Architectural Works in Iraq," Uluçam traveled to Iraq in 1981 and completed his research in 1983. He received his Ph.D. in the same year and went on to earn the titles of Assistant Professor (1987), Associate Professor (1989), and Professor (1994).

He was born on August 1, 1964, in Sarayköy (Denizli). He graduated from the Department of Archaeology and Art History, Faculty of Letters at Ege University in 1986. He began working as a Research Assistant in the same department in 1988. He completed his Master's degree in 1991 and his Doctorate in 1999. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Art History, Faculty of Letters, Ege University.
He has authored chapters in various books and numerous articles on Turkish architectural history, including the books “Portals in Early Ottoman Architecture (1300-1500)” (Ankara 2001), “Muğla Mosques and Masjids” (Muğla 2013), and “Birgi, the World City” (İzmir 2019).
He completed his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in Ankara, at Hacettepe University. He is currently serving as the Chair of the UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Monitoring Committee under the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, as well as the Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology at Dokuz Eylül University.
He has worked as a visiting researcher and lecturer at Marburg University in Germany, Texas A&M University in the USA, Duke University, and Dumbarton Oaks, a research institute of Harvard University. Özdaş is a member of the advisory board of TINA – Maritime Archaeology Journal and the German journal SKYLLIS. Since 2019, he has also been part of the Editorial Board of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Archaeology Journal.
He has been leading the “Turkey Shipwreck Inventory Project – Blue Heritage,” initiated in 2014 with the support of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, which is still ongoing. In addition, he directs the Bozukkale, Çamçalık, and Kızlan Ottoman Shipwreck Underwater Excavation Projects. Dr. Özdaş, a certified diving instructor, also holds certifications as a sonar and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operator.
Associate Professor Dr. Haydar Yalçın serves as the Head of the Department of Management Information Systems at the Faculty of Business, Ege University. Dr. Yalçın has garnered attention for his significant contributions to the field, particularly through his works such as "Technology Mining: Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing" and "Forecasting Technological Positioning through Technology Knowledge Redundancy: Patent Citation Analysis of IoT, Cybersecurity, and Blockchain." As a member of the Omega Rho International Honor Society at Portland State University, Dr. Yalçın has made substantial interdisciplinary contributions throughout his academic career. He has served as a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Engineering and Technology Management at Portland State University, and he also contributes as a faculty member at the Mark O. Hatfield Center for Cybersecurity and Cyber Defense Policy at the same institution. Prof. Dr. Fulya DEDEOĞLU graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology in 1999. She completed her master’s degree in 2003 at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Archaeology, with the thesis “The Expansion Policy of the Hittite Kingdom in Northern Syria”, and her doctoral studies in 2010 with the dissertation “The Upper Menderes Basin from the Neolithic to the End of the Early Bronze Age: Cultural, Social and Economic Processes.” She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2018 and subsequently promoted to Professor.
Since 1995, Dedeoğlu has taken part as a researcher and field director in various excavations and surveys in Eastern and Western Anatolia. Between 2011 and 2012, she conducted academic research at the University of Leicester (UK) with a YÖK post-doctoral research fellowship, and also participated in Erasmus faculty exchange programs. Her main research interests include Neolithic and Chalcolithic cultures, the archaeology of the Upper Menderes Basin, settlement patterns, socio-economic organisation processes, cultural interaction, and environmental archaeology.
Since 2001, she has been a faculty member in the Department of Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology at Ege University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising master’s and doctoral theses. In addition to her academic work, she has held several administrative positions, including Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Letters, Director of Ege University’s Continuing Education Center, and Vice-Chair of the Department of Archaeology, and has served on various academic and administrative committees.

Bu proje kapsamında 2013 yılında bu çalışmalar sonucunda toplam beş ciltlik iki çalışması Türkçe ve İngilizce olarak yayınlandı. 2018 yılında Kazakistan Kültür Bakanlığının da davetiyle Kazakistan’daki arkeolojik araştırmalar ve Türkistan Yesi’deki arkeolojik kazı çalışmaları için Türkiye-Kazakistan arasında koordineli çalışmalara başladı. Halen bu çalışmalar sürdürülmektedir. 2015-2016 yılları arasında Anadolu Selçuklu Kervansarayları ile ilgili olarak “Yolların Tanıkları” isimli kitabı hazırladı. Özlem Çevik, 21.03.1969 tarihinde Malatya’da doğdu. İzmir Karşıyaka Lisesi’nden mezun olduktan sonra, Lisans ve Yüksek Lisans eğitimini Ege Üniversitesi, Klasik Arkeoloji Anabilim Dalı’nda, Doktorasını ise yine aynı üniversitenin Protohistorya ve Önasya Arkeolojisi Anabilim Dalı'nda 2004 yılında tamamladı. 2007 yılından itibaren Trakya Üniversitesi Arkeoloji bölümünde çalışmaktadır. 2009 yılından itibaren de İzmir-Ulucak Höyük kazılarına başkanlık etmektedir. Anadolu’da kentleşme süreci ve Batı Anadolu’nun neolitikleşme süreci temel araştırma konularını oluşturmaktadır ve bu konuda yazılmış ulusal ve uluslararası yayınları bulunmaktadır.
Musa Kadıoğlu was born in 1971 in Bafra. In 1989 he started his undergraduate studies in the Department of Classical Archaeology of the Faculty of Letters at the Ankara University from where he graduated in 1994. He gained his master's degree from the same department in 1997. In 2002 he completed his Ph.D. entitled “The Scaenae frons of the theatre of Nysa on the Maeander” under the supervision Prof. Dr. V. M. Strocka at the Institute of Archaeology of the Albert-Ludwig University at Freiburg with scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the State of Baden-Württenberg (Landesgraduiertenförderung). His thesis was elected for the Günter Wöhrle Achievement Award in 2002 by a state foundation called “Humanismus Heute”. The book derived from the thesis (published in 2006 as Die Scaenae Frons des Theaters von Nysa am Mäander, Forschungen in Nysa am Mäander I) received the 2007 Encouragement Award of Turkey Academy of Sciences (TUBA). In 1995 he started his academic career as a research assistant at the department of Classical Archaeology at the Faculty of Letters of the Ankara Universityand since 2006 he is working as an Associate Professor at the same department. Since 1990 he has been a member of the excavation teams of Stratonikeia, Magnesia on the Maeander and Nysa on the Maeander. Since 2010 he directs the research and restoration works in the ancient city of Teos in Ionia (Seferihisar/Izmir).

1974 ile 1978 yıllarında İstanbul Üniversitesi, Edebiyat Fakültesi, Klasik Diller, Klasik Arkeoloji ve Eski Çağ Tarihi eğitimi aldı. 1979 ile 1984 yılları arasında İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzelerinde görev yaptı. He has worked on Anatolian field projects at Oinoanda, Balboura, and Aphrodisias. He has been Director of the Excavations at Aphrodisias since 1991. His research is concerned with the historical and social interpretation of Greek and Roman art and visual culture. In 2024 and 2025 he is Visiting Professor at Bilkent University in Ankara.
Smith’s largest publication is on The marble reliefs from the Sebasteion at Aphrodisias (2013). His shortest is on the cult and image of Hadrian’s favourite, Antinous: boy made god (2018). His best known and most translated (including a Turkish edition) is Hellenistic Sculpture (1991).
