KUZEY LYDIA'DAKİ THYATEIRA'NIN ERKEN DÖNEM YERLEŞİMİ: 'HASTANE HÖYÜĞÜ' KAZISI

Abstract

Adını üzerine inşa edilen Devlet Hastanesi'nden alan Hastane Höyüğü, Manisa'nın Akhisar İlçe merkezindedir. Kuzeydoğu-güneybatı yönünde 355 m., doğu-batı yönünde ise 360 m. boyutlarında ve yaklaşık 10 m. yüksekliğindedir. Yayınlarda höyüğün Hellenistik dönemde Thyateira kentinin akropol sahası olarak kullanıldığı, Roma döneminde ise tümünün ya da en azından bir bölümünün nekropol alanı olduğu öne sürülmektedir. Devam eden kazılarda çok sayıda mezar açığa çıkarılsa da mezar armağanları tarihleme için yetersizdir. Buna karşın, günümüzde hastanenin bahçesinde duran ve üzerindeki yazıtın içeriğinden Fabius Zosimus adındaki bir erkeğe ait olduğu anlaşılan mermer lahit M.S. II ya da III. yy. 'a tarihlenmektedir.Antik yerleşim açısından bakıldığında höyükte Hellenistik dönem öncesine tarihlenebilecek herhangi bir buluntu henüz ele geçmemiştir. Buna karşın erken yerleşimin Son Kalkolitik Çağ'dan başlayarak tüm Tunç Çağı boyuncu de­vam ettiği buluntulardan anlaşılmaktadır. Ancak bunlardan yalnızca İlk Tunç Çağı'na tarihlenenler tabaka buluntusu olup Orta ve Son Tunç Çağı'na ait olanlar karışık dolgu içerisinden gelmiştir.Hastane Höyüğü'nün güneybatısındaki L28 ve M 28 açmaları höyüğün erken dönemlerine ilişkin bilgi edinilen iki alandır. Ancak her iki alanda da 8 m. civarında İlk Tunç Çağı tabakalarına ulaşılabilmesi, bu höyükte erken dönem kültürlerinin geniş bir şekilde yayılımının açığa çıkarılmasının oldukça güç olacağını göstermektedir.

THE EARLY SETTLEMENT OF THYATEIRA IN THE NORTHERN LYDIA: "HOSPITAL MOUND" EXCAVATION

Abstract

The Hospital Mound which takes its name from the Public Hospital built on it, is in the center of Akhisar county of Manisa 's. It is 355 metres in size towards northeast and southwest; 360 metres towards east and west and 10 metres higf. In editions, it is put forward that the barrow was used as the acropolis field of Thyateria in the Hellenistic pe­riod, and in Roman times, its whole or at least some parts were the necropolis field. Though many tombs have been unearthed in the ongoing excavations, tomb bestowals are insufficient for dating. Nonetheless, the marble grave, from whose content it is understood that it belonged to a male called Fabius Zosimus, which stands in the garden of the hospital, dates back to either A.D II or III In the perspective of Ancient settlement, any founding related to dating it as pre-Hellenistic period is not obtained. However, it is understood from the foundings that the early settlements had continued during whole Bronze Age starting from the Late Chalcolithic Period. Yet, the ones dating back to only the Early Bronze Age are layer foundings whereas the ones that belong to the Middle and Late Bronze Age come from mixed backfill. The L28 and M28 trenches in the southwest of the Hospital Mound are two areas from which information about the early periods can be obtained. On the other hand, the possibility for getting the Early Bronze Age layers around 8 metres in both of the areas shows that it is quite difficult to expose the expansion of early period cultures widely
