The archaeological data point to an increase in construction activities within Eastern Rough Cilician cities during the periods of Marcus Aurelius - Lucius Verus and the Severian period. Especially from the end of the 2nd century AD and the early 3rd century AD onwards, the production of olive oil, wine and cereals increase as well. In this study, the reasons of this increase in agricultural production in Eastern Rough Cilicia is associated with military expeditions. Furthermore, the increase in construction activities is explained with the financing of emperors and city elites.
