Individuals who devote themselves to religion first sought refuge in the deserts of Egypt in order to be able to perform their Christian worship without being disturbed. This primitive life of individuals who have adopted the hermit life has progressed towards development under certain rules. This way of life, which was formed under the name of monastery, was moved to Anatolia in the following years. Although the rules of the monasteries were created by the saints, each monastery organized the rules within the framework of its own principles. Monasteries, which have an important place in Christianity, were built in remote areas of the city for seclusion purposes and were formed as a self-sufficient complex. There were different structures in the complex according to the location of the monastery, its political-social order and the professions of the monks. For this reason, the physical structure of the monastery complexes has uniqueness. Studios Monastery Church was founded in 463 AD in Istanbul. The monastery is the oldest religious building in Istanbul, with its basilica in ruins today. With the rules of Theodore, who became the head of the monastery in the 8th century, the most ideal application of political-social influence in the place was realized. The monks living in the monastery wrote down Theodore’s rules in diaries called typikon. This scope of work; While it was aimed to examine the effects of the rules of the Studios Monastery Church on the spaces in the monastery complex, it was aimed to investigate the results of this. From the most primitive to the most advanced, it is aimed to discuss the political-social effect of the period as well as the effects on the physical monastery complex.
