Biological and Chemical Activity of Catalpa bignonioides Methanolic of Flower Extract

Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the
antimicrobial and antioxidant activity and fatty acid composition of the
methanolic extract obtained from Catalpa
bignonioides flowers. Antioxidant capacity DPPH radical lacking activity
determination and antibacterial activities were investigated by using disk
diffusion method. The oil composition of the methyl esterified extract was
determined by gas chromatography. The extract was shown antimicrobial effect on
Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and
high amount of linoleic acid, tricosonoic acid and arachidonic acid were found
in fat content. The antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract
significantly decreases the DPPH radicals when compared to ascorbic acid. As a
result, it was determined that the flowers of Catalpa bignonioides contain a large number of fatty acids and have
a significant antioxidant activity.

Abstract
Bu çalışmada Catalpa bignonioides çiçeklerinden elde
edilen metanolik ekstraktın antimikrobiyal, antioksidan aktiviteleri ve yağ
asit kompozisyonlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Antioksidan kapasitesi DPPH
radikali süpürücü aktivite tayini,
antimikrobiyal aktiviteleri disk difüzyon yöntemi kullanılarak araştırılmıştır.
Metil esterlenmiş ekstraktın yağ kompozisyonu gaz kromotografisi ile
belirlenmiştir. Ekstraktın Staphylococcus aureus ATCC
29213 suşu üzerinde antibakteriyel etki
gösterdiği ve yağ içeriğinde yüksek miktarda linoleik asit, trikosonoik asit,
araşidonik asit olduğu gözlenmiştir. Metanolik ekstraktın
antioksidan aktivitesi askorbik asitle karşılaştırıldığında DPPH radikallerini
önemli derecede azalttığı tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar neticesinde Catalpa bignonioides çiçeklerinin çok
çeşitli sayıda yağ asidi içerdiği ve önemli derecede antioksidan aktiviteye
sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir.
