With the increase in urban population, rapid urbanization and industrialization, the green texture of the cities is decreasing. For this reason, the importance of green areas is increasing in order to increase the quality of life of the people and to improve the ecological balance of the city. People living in the city prefer to get away from the concrete texture of the city and to be intertwined with nature in order to evaluate their leisure time effectively. In this context, recreation areas in cities are of great importance. Recreational spaces, housing flora and fauna, are building blocks of cities and vital not only in terms of ecology but also in terms of providing room for people to interact more with nature, spend quality time in it and relax. The extent to which recreation areas respond to the needs of the people in the area determines the quality of the recreation area. There are different methods to determine the potential of recreation areas. In this study, Gulez (1990) method which was developed to decipher the recreational potential of forests by considering different variables such as landscape and climate values, accessibility, convenience and the negative effects was used. Kapıcam Nature Park, located in the city of Kahramanmaras, which is used frequently by the people in the city, has been determined as the study area. The purpose of this study is to determine the current uses in the area and to determine the recreation potential of Kapıcam Nature Park by using Gulez Method.
