It aims to contribute into science by publishing research and studies in the field of health sciences and technologies.
It is a scientific international refereed journal that publishes original, innovative, retrospective, prospective or experimental research, review, case report, editorial comment / discussion, letter to the editor, medical book reviews, including R&D, design, production, analyses, synthesis, control and testing stages in the fields of health sciences, primarily biotechnology, vaccine, public health and chronic diseases, cancer, quality and accreditation in healthcare services, health policies, health data research and artificial intelligence applications, maternity, children and adolescent health, traditional and complementary medicine.

Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye is a scientific refereed journal that aims to publish research and studies in the field of health sciences and technologies and to offer them to the service of all beneficiaries, especially scientists, and consists of sections that complement each other. The journal, which is the periodical scientific publication of Health Institutes of Türkiye, is published in Turkish and English three times a year, in April, August and December. This journal is an open access journal published electronically. All articles are accessible to users without any charge.

Manuscripts must be written in one of the Turkish or English languages, in accordance with one of the following types of writing, and in the structure specified.
a) Original Research: it contains prospective, retrospective and all kinds of experimental studies, written in scientific format, presenting original research and its results. Text structure should include the following sections:
• Abstract (must be between 100-250 words including Turkish and English Abstract)
• Key Words
• Introduction
• Materials and Methods
• Findings
• Discussion
• Conclusion
• Acknowledgements
• Resources
b) Compilation: comprehensive compilation of scientific studies on a particular subject, mainly based on the recent literature. Text structure should include the following sections:
• Abstract (must be between 100-250 words including Turkish and English Abstract)
• Related topics
• Resources
c) Case Report: these are articles that are rare and differ in diagnosis and treatment. It should be supplemented with sufficient number of photographs and diagrams. Text structure should include the following sections:
• Abstract (must be between 100-250 words including Turkish and English Abstract)
• Introduction
• Case Report
• Discussion
• Resources
d) Editorial Comment / Discussion: it is the evaluation of the published original research articles by an authority other than the authors of the research. It should be published at the end of the relevant article.
e) Letter to the Editor: these are the articles consisting of maximum 500 words containing the different opinions, experiences and questions of the readers about the articles published in the journal within the last year. Text structure should include the following sections:
• There are no titles and abstracts.
The number of resources is limited to 5.
The number and date should be given to which article it is dedicated to, and the name, institution and address of the author should be included at the end.
The answer to the letter is given by the editor or the author(s) of the article by publishing it in the journal.

Spelling Rules
Articles sent to the journal for publication should be prepared in accordance with the following formal principles.
1. Preparation of the Article:
Articles should be written as a Microsoft Word ® document, using the "Times New Roman" character, with 1 line spacing in the abstract and 1.5 line spacing in the main text, 10 font size and aligned to both sides. 10 font size can be used for explanations and footnotes, and between 10 and 12 font size in tables and figures.
There should be 2.5 cm margins on the right, left, bottom and top edges of the page and page numbers should be placed in the bottom right corner of each page.
Line spacing should not be left between paragraphs, each paragraph should start with a 1.25 cm indent.
The number of words for the text (except for the abstract, figures and tables, bibliography) should not exceed 5000 words in research articles, 3000 in reviews, and 2000 words in case reports.
Abbreviations should be given in parentheses at the first occurrence of the word and that abbreviation should be used throughout the text.
For internationally used abbreviations, “Scientific Spelling Rules” (Scientific Style and Format: the CBE manual for authors, editors, and publishers) can be consulted.
The places where figures, pictures, tables, and graphics are used in the text should be indicated at the end of the relevant sentence.
Explanations of figures, pictures, tables, and graphics should be added at the end of the article.
Pictures/photos must be colourful, contrast and clear enough to see details. Figures, pictures/photos should be submitted separately to the journal as separate tif, .png, .jpg or .gif files (approximately 500x400 pixel size, 8 cm wide and 300 dpi scanned) in order to obtain clear printing.
The abbreviations used should be stated in the explanation below the figures, pictures, tables, and graphics.
If previously printed figures, pictures, tables, and graphics are used, written permission should be obtained and this permission should be stated in the description of the figure, picture, table and graphic.
Table titles should be written above the table, figure, and graphic titles below the figure and graphic, with the first letters capitalized (Table 1 and Figure 1).
2. Abstract:
Each article should contain an informative summary not exceeding 250 words in Turkish and English.
The research, review summary of the article should briefly reflect the main points of the article.
3. Keywords:
Keywords should be written in Turkish and English, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords.
Words must be separated by a semicolon (;).
English keywords should be given in accordance with "Medical Subject Headings (MESH)".
Turkish keywords should be given in accordance with Turkish Science Terms (TBT) (http://www.bilimterimleri.com).
4. Introduction:
In this section, the current information that is the subject of the article should be given. The claims that constitute the subject of the study should be formed by taking into account the studies made in the past and should provide a clear explanation for the targeted question.
5. Method:
In this section, the universe and sample of the research, data collection tools and methods and statistical analyses should be given in detail.
6. Findings:
This section should include research findings, tables, figures, and graphs. Findings should be explained without comment. Data given in one table or figure should not be repeated in another table or figure.
7. Discussion:
The explanations in the introduction and findings section should not be repeated in this section. The results obtained should be discussed with the relevant, current literature.
8. Conclusion and Suggestions:
The results obtained as a result of the study and related suggestions should be given.
9. Limitations:
Study limitations, if any, should be stated.
10. Acknowledgements:
In the articles, if there is conflict of interest, financial support, donation and all other editorial (English/Turkish evaluation) and/or technical assistance, it should be stated at the end of the text.
11. Resources:
Manuscripts submitted to our journal should be prepared in accordance with the 6th version of the American Psychological Association (APA) style in terms of reference system, footnotes, and bibliography.
The bibliography section should be created starting from a new page.
As in in-text citation, every reference given in the bibliography should also be given in the text.
In the bibliography section, the text should be in hanging format with 1 line spacing, 11 font size and 1.25 cm.
In the bibliography, the resources are given in alphabetical order. In resources with authors, if the surnames are the same, the initials of the names are taken into account. In the sources written by the same author, the earliest published date is given first.
However, if the same author has two works with the same date, the end of the date is sorted in lowercase letters.

Studies of authors with the same name-surname: If there are two studies that start with the same surname order and have the same date, which can be confused with each other, "et al" or "et al" in parentheses is added to the end after the surnames of the authors are given to distinguish them from each other.

Ethical Principals and Publication Policy
The journal, which is the periodical scientific publication of the Health Institutes of Türkiye, is published in Turkish and English languages three times a year, in April, August and December. The journal is an open access journal published electronically. All articles are accessible to users without any charge. A notification is made within 30 working days about the 'acceptance or rejection' decision regarding the candidate publications that pass the preliminary evaluation.
Scientific and Ethical Responsibility
Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye considers the condition that the articles it publishes are of the highest ethical and scientific standards and are not of commercial concern.
All authors should have a direct academic-scientific contribution to the studies submitted to our journal. The author, who is responsible for communicating with the journal, is responsible for the final version of the manuscript on behalf of all authors.
It should be stated that the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki are complied with by the author(s) in all studies that include the "Human" element, and that animal rights are protected in line with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals principles in studies that use the "Animal" element. Regardless of the identity of the patient in the case reports, "Informed Consent" should be obtained from the patients. If there is a direct-indirect commercial link in the article or an institution that provides financial support for the study, the authors should state that they have no commercial relationship with the commercial product, drug, company, etc. used and what kind of relationship they have (consultant, other agreements), if so, on the submission page to the editor.
If "Ethics Committee Approval" is required for the article, the authors should declare that they have obtained ethics committee approval.
In addition, the Publishing Ethics Committee adopts the principles set out in the Guideline for Journal Editors “The COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors” prepared by COPE.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye:
• The Editorial Board of the Journal is responsible for every article submitted to Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye, and even for all processes after its publication. This responsibility entails making independent decisions on matters related to the journal, without considering personal gain, considering only the public interest. The relationship between the publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence. All decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and other individuals and organizations.
• Editorial Board of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye ensures the determination and implementation of journal policies such as publication, blind refereeing, evaluation process, and ethical principles.
• Editorial Board of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye protects the copyright of the authors of the articles published in the Journal.
• Editorial Board of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye is responsible for taking precautions regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific-unethical behaviours, plagiarism, citation gangs during the publication process of articles and journals.
• Editorial Board of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye determines the policies that motivate the referees and the author(s).
• Editorial Board of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye keeps the records of each article and correspondence about the journal electronically or in print.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors, Assistant Editors and Field Editors:
• Editors strive to meet the information needs of referees, authors, researchers, practitioners, and readers, to provide feedback when necessary, and to act in accordance with the principles of clarity in matters that require correction and explanation during the publication process.
• Editors, when deciding whether to publish articles, take care to ensure that the articles are original and contribute to scientific writing, readers, researchers, and practitioners.
• Editors take into consideration the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the narrative, and the purpose and scope of the journal when making a positive or negative decision about the articles.
• The editors take the submitted articles to the preliminary evaluation stage as long as they do not have significant problems, consider the positive referee suggestions, and do not change the decisions made by the previous editor(s) unless there are serious problems.
• Editors apply the policies of blind refereeing and evaluation process, which are among the publication policies of the journal, keep the identity information of the referees confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and on time.
• Editors send the articles by taking into consideration the field of expertise of the editors and the referees and support the impartial and independent evaluations.
• Editors take into account whether there is a conflict of interest between the editors, the referees and the author(s) for the unbiased evaluation of the article.
• Editors strive to ensure that the referee pool consists of a wide range and is constantly updated.
• Editors block reviews that do not comply with academic etiquette and are unscientific.
• Editors ensure that the publication processes of the journal are operated in accordance with publication policies and guidelines, they inform those in charge of the developments in publication policies, and prepare a training program when necessary.
• Editors communicate effectively with everyone involved in the publication process and organize meetings at regular intervals.
• Editors ensure the protection of personal data in the evaluated articles; and protect the individual data of authors, referees, and readers.
• Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in articles, they care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants of the article, they reject the article when they do not have the approval of the ethics committee for the participants of the article, and permission for experimental research.
• Editors take precautions against misconduct. They make an objective investigation and shares the relevant findings when there are complaints about misconduct.
• Editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies, or misdirection in articles are corrected.
• Editors protect the intellectual property rights of the published articles and defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in case of violation. In addition, they take the necessary precautions to ensure that the content of the published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications, and they perform the originality-similarity control.
• Editors take into account the consistent criticisms of the articles published in the Journal and give the right to reply to the author(s) of the criticized articles.
• Editors also take into account the studies that contain negative results.
• Editors examine the complaints submitted to the Journal and make the necessary explanations.

Ethical Responsibilities of Referees:
In the article evaluation process of Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye, the principle of two-way blind refereeing is applied, in which the referee(s) of the author(s) do not know the authors. The referees cannot communicate directly with the authors, the article evaluation forms and the notes on the text and correction requests are forwarded to the author(s) by the editors through the journal management system. The referees who will evaluate the articles submitted to the Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
• Referees should only accept to evaluate articles related to their field of expertise.
• Referees should make the evaluation with impartiality and confidentiality. Pursuant to this principle, they should destroy the articles they have reviewed after the evaluation process and use them only after they are published. Nationality, gender, religious belief, political belief and commercial concerns should not impair the impartiality of the assessment.
• When referees understand that there is a conflict of interest – unity of interests, they should refuse to evaluate the article and inform the editors.
• Referees should make the evaluation in accordance with academic etiquette, in a constructive language, and avoid personal comments that include insults and hostility.
• Referees should evaluate the article for which they accepted the evaluation within the time limit.


Ethical Responsibilities of Authors:
Ethical responsibilities of the author(s) applying for an article to Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye:
• The author(s) should not submit an article that they have published elsewhere or sent for publication, or more than one article at the same time to Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye.
• The author(s) must submit an original article to Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye.
• The author(s) must correctly refer (cite) the sources they used during the writing of the article in line with ethical principles.
• The names of people who do not contribute to the article should not be written as authors, and it should not be suggested to change the author order, remove an author, or add an author of an article that has been applied for publication.
• Persons who have a conflict of interest – unity of interest regarding the article applied for publication should be reported to the editors.
• If information or raw data are requested from the author(s) during the evaluation process, they should submit the necessary information to the Editors.
• The author(s) should document that they have obtained the right to use the data they use in their articles, the permissions for the research-analysis or the consent of the participants on whom they have researched.
• The author(s) should contact the editor to inform, correct or retract the article when they notice an error in an article that is in the evaluation and early view stage or published in electronic form.
• The author(s) should declare that they have obtained ethics committee approval for research that requires data collection through quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, questionnaires, scales, interviews, observations, focus group studies, which require an ethics committee decision. Ethics committee name, decision date and number should be stated on the first and last page of the article and in the method section, and the document showing the decision of the ethics committee should be uploaded to the system with the application of the article. In addition, the article should include information about obtaining the informed consent/consent form in the case reports.
• The author(s) should present in the article evidence that they care about ethical principles in the data collection process (such as obtaining their permission to use other people's documents such as scales, questionnaires, photographs). It should be stated in the articles that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with. If the research was carried out on human and animal subjects, it should be stated that the research was carried out in accordance with international reports, guidelines, etc.
• Ethics committee approval is not required from the author(s) for review articles. However, in articles that do not require an ethics committee decision, it should be stated in the method section of the article that an ethics committee decision is not required.


Notifying the Editor of the Situation Not Complying with the Ethical Principles
Plagiarism is examined before the articles are published in Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye. After the review, the articles are sent back to the authors for revision or correction if deemed necessary, and if plagiarism or unethical behaviour is detected, they are rejected for publication.
In case of a behaviour that does not comply with the ethical principles regarding the editors, referees and authors in the Journal of Health Institutes of Türkiye, or an unethical situation regarding an article published in the evaluation process, it should be reported to the Health Institutes of Türkiye by e-mail.
