Abstract

Abstract

Social workers experience anxiety about being exposed to client violence during their professional practice. The reason for the high likelihood of experiencing violence is that social workers work with clients from disadvantaged segments of society and deal with difficult issues. Knowing how to report an act of violence and where to report it will help social workers reduce their feelings of uncertainty about the process if they are exposed to client violence. It also ensures that they know what steps their institutions will take. Certain factors can prevent social workers from reporting and notifying client violence they experience. Therefore, institutions must encourage the reporting and notification of all types of client violence and establish safety procedures that outline the steps to be taken after violent acts occur. This study, prepared in a traditional compilation format, discusses the barriers to reporting and notifying client violence experienced by social workers during their professional practice and presents a series of recommendations to encourage reporting and notification.
