The Relationship Between High School Teachers İnnovative Pedagogy Practices and Their Teaching Motivation

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between teachers' innovative pedagogical practices and their teaching motivation. Conducted using a correlational survey model, the study collected data from 342 teachers. The data collection tools used in the study were the Innovative Pedagogical Practices for Teachers Scale and the Teaching Motivation Scale. Within the scope of the research, opinions regarding both dependent variables were compared in terms of various independent variables, and the relationship between the dependent variables was investigated. In this context, whether the data were distributed homogeneously was taken into account in determining the data analysis technique. Accordingly, parametric and non-parametric tests were used. Where significant differences in opinions were identified, Cohen's d and eta-square statistics were calculated to better interpret these differences. The research identified significant differences in opinions based on the faculty from which the teacher graduated, gender, and seniority. However, no significant differences in opinions were identified based on educational status, employment status, or type of school where the teacher worked. Furthermore, a significant and positive relationship was determined for both dependent variables. Accordingly, it is thought that adding more innovative content to training programs to increase teachers' motivation may lead teachers to have more positive views towards innovative pedagogical practices.
