Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

1. General Framework
The publication process in the journal of Religion and Philosophical Research constitutes to the development and distribution of knowledge objectively and in a respected way. For this reason, the applied processes are reflected on the quality of the writers’ and the quality of institutions works which support the authors. Reviewed articles reify and promote the scientific method. At this point, it is of importance for all the stakeholders of the process (writers, readers and researchers, publisher, reviewer and the editors) to be in accordance with standards about ethic principles. Religion and Philosophical Research expects all stakeholders to carry on the ethic responsibilities below within the context of publication ethics.
The ethical duty and responsibilities below were prepared by taking into consideration the guides and policies published by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access (See (COPE Yönerge Türkçe)
It is a building block for an article to be published in a refereed-journal which is necessary for the development of knowledge network that is agreeable and respected. This is the direct reflection of the quality of writers’ and their institutions’ studies. Reviewed articles reify and promote the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to reach an agreement about publication for all the stakeholders, the writer, journal’s editor, the reviewer and the publishing associations:

2. Actions Contrary to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics
The following practices are considered violations of scientific research and publication ethics:
Plagiarism:
Presenting, in whole or in part, others’ ideas, methods, data, practices, texts, figures, or works as one’s own without proper citation in accordance with academic referencing rules.
Fabrication:
Producing data not based on research; designing, altering, reporting, or publishing research based on false data; or presenting a study that has not been conducted as if it had been.
Falsification:
Manipulating research records or data; presenting unused methods or instruments as if they were used; excluding data that do not conform to the research hypothesis; or shaping results in line with the interests of specific individuals or institutions.
Duplicate Publication:
Presenting multiple works containing the same research findings as separate publications in academic evaluation processes.
Salami Slicing:
Dividing research results into multiple publications in a manner that compromises the integrity of the study and producing numerous publications without appropriate cross-referencing.
Unjustified Authorship:
Listing individuals who have not made a substantial contribution as authors, excluding contributors from authorship, or changing the order of authors without a legitimate justification.
Other Ethical Violations:
Failing to acknowledge individuals or institutions providing support; violating ethical principles in research involving humans or animals; infringing patient rights; breaching confidentiality during the peer-review process; misusing scientific resources; or making unfounded and malicious allegations of ethical misconduct.

3. Ethical Declaration and Ethics Committee Approval
All research involving human or animal subjects must be conducted in compliance with relevant ethical principles. Accordingly:
• Copyright regulations must be observed for all ideas and artistic works used.
• Permission must be obtained and explicitly stated for the use of scales, questionnaires, visual materials, or similar tools belonging to others.
• In case reports, it must be clearly stated that informed consent has been obtained.
Ethics Committee Approval is mandatory for the following types of research:
• Studies involving data collection through surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or similar methods.
• Research involving the experimental or scientific use of humans or animals.
• Clinical studies.
• Retrospective studies conducted within the scope of personal data protection regulations.

4. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authorship:
All individuals listed as authors must have made a significant contribution to the research. It is unacceptable to include individuals who have not contributed to the study as authors.
Originality and Accuracy:
All data presented must be accurate, reliable, and original. The deliberate presentation of false or misleading information constitutes a serious ethical violation.
Multiple and Simultaneous Submissions:
The same manuscript may not be submitted simultaneously to more than one journal, nor may a previously published work be republished.
Citation of Sources:
All sources used in the study must be cited accurately and completely.
Conflict of Interest:
Any financial or institutional relationships that may influence the results or interpretation of the research must be clearly disclosed.
Corrections and Retractions:
If significant errors are identified in a published work, authors are obliged to cooperate with the editorial board to correct or retract the article as necessary.

5. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must act in accordance with the principles of impartiality, confidentiality, and scholarly competence throughout the evaluation process. Review requests falling outside the reviewer’s area of expertise or involving a conflict of interest must be immediately reported to the editor. Reviewers are obliged to inform the editorial board if they detect any suspicion of ethical misconduct.

6. Editorial Responsibilities
The Editorial Board holds full authority and responsibility for the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts submitted to the journal. Decisions are made based on criteria such as originality, scientific contribution, and academic merit. Transparency and impartiality are fundamental principles throughout the publication process.

7. Publication and Evaluation Policies
• The journal applies a double-blind peer review system.
• Manuscripts undergo preliminary evaluation, plagiarism screening, language and format checks, and academic peer review.
• The maximum acceptable plagiarism/similarity rate is 20%.
• The journal is open access, and no fees are charged to authors, reviewers, or editors.

8. Language of Publication and Publication Principles
The primary language of publication is Turkish; however, scholarly works written in English are also accepted. The journal is published biannually (June–December). Only manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not under evaluation by another journal are considered for publication

9. Archiving Policy

The Journal of Religious and Philosophical Studies undertakes to distribute each published issue, within no later than one month from the date of publication, to domestic and international university and research libraries, as well as to national and international indexing institutions determined by the Editorial Board.

All content published in the journal is archived through the DergiPark system for the purposes of long-term digital preservation and access, and is made available in open access format.

10. Copyright Policy
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Religious and Philosophical Studies may not be published, in whole or in part, in any visual, audio, or printed medium without the written permission of the Journal’s Editorial Board, from the date of submission until the completion of the peer-review process and after publication.

However, published works may be quoted for scholarly purposes provided that proper citation to the Journal of Religious and Philosophical Studies is clearly given.

Authors are solely responsible for the originality of their submissions and for any legal responsibility arising therefrom.

11. Plagiarism Policy
For all manuscripts submitted to the journal, the maximum acceptable similarity (plagiarism) rate determined by the Editorial Board is 20%.

Manuscripts exceeding this threshold are rejected without being included in the peer-review process.

Plagiarism and similarity checks are conducted using the İntihal.net software, and the similarity report is uploaded to the DergiPark system in accordance with the principle of transparency.

12. Financial Policy
The Journal of Religious and Philosophical Studies is an academic journal that adopts the principle of open access.
No fees are charged to authors for manuscript submission, evaluation, or publication processes.
No royalties are paid to authors for published works.
No payments are made to members of the Editorial Board or to reviewers.
All financial, legal, and copyright-related responsibilities concerning translated works belong to the translator/author.
No financial support is provided for translation works, including copyright fees.
By submitting a manuscript or translation to the Journal of Religious and Philosophical Studies, the author or translator is deemed to have accepted full financial, legal, and scholarly responsibility for the work.
