Abstract
Although the restrictions caused of COVID-19 have descreased on the tendency of consumers to go to restaurants, they have increased their demands for take-out services offered by restaurants. In order to meet the demand, it has caused the restaurants that did not provide take-out service before to employ motorcylce couriers or to increase the number of their existing motorcyle couriers. In this research, it is aimed to determine the demographic characteristics, working relationships, problems, solution suggestions and expectations of the motorcyle couriers working in franchise restaurants. In this study, in which the qualitative research approach was preferred, 41 questions determined by the researchers were collected in April 2022 with the semi-structured in-depth intervivew technique. The interviews were conducted on the basis of convenience sampling method with 27 motorcycle couriers working in franchise restaurants operating in Buca and Bornova districts of İzmir. The data collected by qualititave research methods were subjected to content analysis. The findings show that motor couriers have some problems that caused by work, seasonal conditions, the business relationship with the employer, the traffic and the physical conditions of the city, and the customers. They are hardly any associations or union organizations, and they think that they are not supported enough by public.
