Karacakılavuz is one of the important weaving centers of Tekirdağ. The first settlement in the region was made by Turks living in some villages of Bulgaria through immigration. The people who settled in Karacakılavuz dealt with agriculture and animal husbandry; in addition to agriculture and animal husbandry, they continued traditional weaving production in order to meet their daily needs and at the same time to provide additional income for products such as sacks, cradles, saddlebags and rugs. Local weavings are woven on looms made of oak and hornbeam trees. Karacakılavuz weavings are the second product of the region to receive geographical indications. Geographical indicated products are unique because they are traditional and gain their recognition with local and historical values. The protection of these products in legal and effective way contributes to the local economy. In addition, it can be ensured that the authenticity of the products is maintained by helping to protect the cultural heritage through effective conservation. In this study, some physical properties and pattern features of the weavings produced in the Karacakılavuz region are determined by documentation and examples of their display methods are determined. In addition, the significance of Karacakılavuz weavings is evaluated as a geographically indicated material through cultural heritage values.
