Abstract
With the development of information and communication technologies along with globalization, many changes have come in our daily lives. The most important results of globalization are the development of technology and the widespread use of the internet. Our daily life has become much easier thanks to the easy and fast access to information, storage and dissemination of information thanks to the internet. As a result of so much use of the internet, victimization of violence, which is common in all areas of our lives, has also increased over the internet. Violence against women, which is a social problem, appears in different forms in every aspect of life. Today, as a result of many possible situations such as the fact that even the domestic life has become dangerous for women, widespread and uncontrolled access of individuals to the internet and social networks, the possibility of freely commenting and sharing, the fact that individuals can hide their own names and genders or use pseudonyms, the internet environment can be easily used for women can become a tool of violence. Violence against women is called cyber violence in the digital world. The aim of this study is to draw attention to the violence against women in the digital world and to reveal the current situation.
