Participation banking, also known as Islamic banking
in the world, has not long history in both nationally and internationally
compared to conventional banking. However, in recent years, it has started to
get attention day by day in terms of both in financial markets and in country
economy. The aim of the study is to determine and compare the performance of
Turkish participation banks and Turkish conventional banks for 2008 and 2017
period. In order to evaluate the performance of banks, ratio analysis method is
used. Both TOPSIS and Grey Relational Analysis methods, which are well known
Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) Methods, are used to transform different
ratios in one point. The banks are ranked on yearly basis with two different
method. As a result, it is found that according to grey relational analysis
method and TOPSIS method, while conventional banks are at the top of the list
in terms of performance, participation banks take place in the mid and lower
place of the list.

İslami Bankacılık olarak da bilinen katılım bankacılığı, ulusal ve uluslararası
alanda geleneksel bankacılığa kıyasla çok uzun bir geçmişe sahip değildir. Buna
rağmen, son yıllarda hem finansal piyasalar açısından hem de ülke ekonomisi
açısından giderek önem kazanmaya başlamıştır.
