Abstract

Health information technologies (HIT) provide time and cost savings as well as increasing efficiency. In this study, the factors affecting the use of HIT are discussed from the perspective of healthcare personnel, who are an important stakeholder of these technologies. The study was conducted with 219 employees of a university hospital. The HIT Utilization Questionnaire (CITAM Model) was used as a data collection tool. The questionnaire consists of 13 descriptive and an attitude scale with 49 statements. As a result of the study, it was determined that the attitude of the surveyed group towards the use of HIT was at the level of x̄=5.05 ± 0.86. In the study, it was also found that the attitude levels of the participants towards the use of HIT had statistically significant differences in terms of having an IT usage certificate, age, education, occupation, duration of internet use and having a computer at home. However, no statistically significant difference was found in terms of the participants' income, gender, marital status, duration of computer use at work and at home. The findings suggest that attitudes towards HIT are influenced by various demographic and occupational factors, including age, education, occupation, IT certification, and computer and internet use.
