Abstract

Bibliyometric Analysis of National and International Studies Conducted in the Field of Business Model

Year 2025, Volume: 5 Issue: 3 , 159 - 174 , 30.12.2025

Abstract

In recent years, the concept of business models has been increasingly addressed in disciplines such as strategic management, entrepreneurship, and organizational theory. This interest stems from the fact that business models shape not only how businesses create and capture value but also how they achieve sustainable competitive advantage. However, there is still no consensus in the literature on the definition, scope, and analytical framework of the business model concept. This situation has led to differences in methodological approaches as well as conceptual diversity. This study aims to systematically reveal the developmental dynamics of business model research. Specifically, through a bibliometric analysis of academic studies published between 2014 and 2024, the fundamental trends, prominent themes, and research gaps in the field have been identified. In this context, publications in the Web of Science and DergiPark databases were analyzed using VOSviewer software to visualize conceptual clusters, citation relationships, and keyword densities in the literature. One of the main contributions of the research is that it provides a guiding framework for future academic work. The identification of gaps in the literature opens up new areas of research, particularly in the context of sustainability, digitalization, and business model innovation for SMEs. In this respect, the study aims to serve as a theoretical and methodological reference point for both doctoral-level researchers and academics.
