PROPOLİS VE KARACİĞERE KORUYUCU ETKİSİ

Abstract

Propolis, bal arıları
tarafından çeşitli bitkilerden toplanan ve reçine ile kendi mumlarının
karıştırılmasıyla elde edilen aynı zamanda kovan yapımı ve bakımında kullanılan
yapışkan reçineli bir üründür. Propolisin tam kompozisyonu kayna
ğına bağlı olarak değişir. Genellikle propolis % 50
reçine ve bitki balsamı, %30 balmumu, %10 esansiyel ya
ğlar, %5 polen ve %5 diğer çeşitli maddelerden oluşur. Propolisin, özellikle
etonolik özütü, antioksidan, antibakteriyal, antifungal, antiviral ve
hepatoprotektif etkileri ile geni
ş spektrumlu aktivite gösterir. Bu yüzden, günümüzde diyet katkısı olarak
propolisin kullanımı yaygındır. Propolisin antioksidadif, sitotoksik, anti
mutagenik ve immünomodülatör özellikleri onun zengin flavonoid, fenolik asit ve
terpenoid içeriklerinden kaynaklanır. Son yıllarda propolis antibakteriyel,
antioksidan, antiinflammatuar ve antitümoral etkileri ile ilgili birçok
araştırmaya konu olmuştur. Karaciğer immünolojik savunma mekanizmalarında rol oynayan
önemli organlardan birisidir. Bu derlemede de propolisin özellikleri ve
karaciğer koruyucu etkinliği ile ilgili çalışmalardan bahsedilmektedir.
