Voice Recognition Based Home Automation System Design and Application

Abstract

The adoption of home automation is accelerating, driven by its role in enhancing security, comfort, and quality of life. This project details the design and implementation of a voice-controlled home automation system utilizing an Android application. The primary objective is to assist elderly and disabled individuals living independently by simplifying appliance control. Traditionally, managing multiple devices requires numerous remote controls and switches, which can be challenging. This system allows users to operate electronic devices via voice commands sent from a smartphone to an Arduino microcontroller over Bluetooth. The Android application converts speech into text commands, which are then transmitted to the microcontroller to activate the corresponding relays connected to household appliances. This approach offers a secure and personalized interface, as voice profiles can be restricted to authorized household members.
