Erken İslam Dönemi Kaya Yazılarında Hz. Muhammed’in Anılması ve Rahmet Tasavvuru

Abstract

İnsanlık tarihine yeni bir din ve köklü bir düşünce yapısı getiren Hz. Muhammed (sas), tebliğ ettiği mesajla sadece inanç dünyasını değil, toplumsal düzeni ve bireysel yaşam pratiklerini de dönüştüren yeni bir süreç başlatmıştır. Bu sürecin en somut tezahürlerinden biri, Hz. Peygamber’in isminin ve şahsiyetinin hem kurucu dinî metinlerde hem de Müslümanların gündelik dilinde merkezi bir otoriteye dönüşmesidir. Erken İslam toplumunda bu otoritenin kuruluşu; hitabet, idari yazışmalar ve kutsal metinler aracılığıyla pekişirken, bu durumun zihniyet dünyasındaki karşılığını sadece klasik literatür üzerinden değil, doğrudan dönemin fiziksel kalıntıları üzerinden okumak büyük bir tarihsel öneme sahiptir. Hz. Peygamber’in kazandığı bu tartışmasız otoritenin, resmî belgelerin ötesinde, sıradan insanların eliyle tabiata kazınmış arkeolojik verilerle ispatlanması, İslam’ın ilk asırlarındaki toplumsal dindarlığın ve Peygamber algısının gerçekliğini teyit eden en kıymetli delilleri sunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, söz konusu otoriteleşme sürecinin sahadaki yansımalarını, özellikle Arap Yarımadası ve çevresindeki erken dönem kaya yazıları (graffiti) üzerinden incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

The Mention of Prophet Muhammad in Early Islamic Rock Inscriptions and the Conception of Mercy

Abstract

By introducing a new religion and a profound intellectual framework to human history, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) initiated a transformative process that reshaped not only the world of belief but also social order and individual life practices. One of the most concrete manifestations of this process is the transformation of the Prophet’s name and personality into a central authority within both foundational religious texts and the daily language of Muslims. While the establishment of this authority in early Islamic society was consolidated through oratory, administrative correspondence, and sacred texts, it is of great historical importance to interpret the reflection of this authority in the world of mentality through direct physical remains of the period rather than solely through classical literature. Proving this unquestionable authority gained by the Prophet -beyond official documents- through archaeological data carved into nature by ordinary people provides the most valuable evidence confirming the reality of social piety and the perception of the Prophet during the first centuries of Islam. This study aims to examine the reflections of the aforementioned authorization process in the field, specifically through early Islamic rock inscriptions (graffiti) found in the Arabian Peninsula and its surroundings.
