Museums, which have aimed to show their assets to their guests since the earliest periods, have started to host tactile and auditory interactions over time. Tactile tours, especially those that started in the 17th century, formed the basis for the multimodal interactions of museums. Sensory communication, which is followed by sight, hearing and touch, has also included smell with modern applications. Sniffing, which also has a significant effect on memory, is used in various ways in museums as a method that increases visitor experiences but is also difficult to implement.
The prepared article aimed to exemplify the scent applications used in museums. In this context, the effect of the sense of smell on memory and the place of smell in sensory museology were emphasized, then the areas of use were classified and examples were given.
