KONYA AND CONSIST OF CAPITAL CITY
Abstract
There is an interesting relationship between the Crusades and Konya. After 1071, the
Sultanate of Rum aimed for the city of Istanbul directly. Therefore it was the city of Iznik on the
road to Istanbul that was their center of government. After this location has been lost for a short
time during the first crusade another location, which is more secure or harder to reach, was searched
for. As a result Konya became the center of the Sultanate after the beginning of 12th century.
It took another century for hostile forces to reach Konya and threaten the city. Although
Byzantine forces also posed a threat they were also easily eliminated. In 1190 another Crusader
army affected the city of Konya. Konya was enjoying the benefits of being the center of government
during these years when the Seljuqid internal contentsions were also effective. Therefore the damage
by the crusaders to the city and it’s environ was resolved in a short time and Konya has started an
era of quick development.

Abstract
Haçlı Seferleri ile Konya arasında ilginç bir ilişki vardır. Şöyle ki 1071 sonrasında , Selçuklu Kutalmış oğulları doğrudan İstanbul’u hedeflemişlerdi. Bu yüzden idare merkezleri de oraya ulaşan yol üzerindeki İznik şehri oldu. I.Haçlı Seferi sonunda burası kısa bir sürede elden çıkınca, ülke içinde daha güvenli veya ulaşılması zor bir yer arandı. Bunun sonucu Konya, XII yy başlarından itibaren Selçuklu Kutalmış evladının merkezi oldu.Konya merkezine düşman (hasım) güçlerin ulaşması ve tehdit etmesi bir yüzyıl sonra oldu. Gerçi Bizans güçleride tehdit etti ama onlar kolaylıkla bertaraf edilmişti. 1190 senesinde bir başka Haçlı ordusu Konya şehrini etkiledi. Selçuklu iç çekişmelerinin de etkilediği bu yıllarda Konya , bir idare/devlet merkezi olmanının nimetlerini de yaşamıştı. Bu sebeple Haçlıların şehre ve çevresine verdikleri zarar kısa bir sürede giderildi ve Konya hızlı bir gelişme sürecine girdi.
