Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Scientific studies that have successfully completed the publication process of the Journal of the Faculty of Dentistry of Usak University are published by the Faculty of Dentistry of Uşak University, which acts as the publisher. In order to protect intellectual property and copyright, and to ensure editorial independence, the confidentiality relationship between the publisher, editors, and other parties is defined by formal agreements. The publisher establishes policies covering editorial independence, confidentiality, consent, specific requirements for human and animal research, research ethics, transparency and integrity, conflicts of interest, research funding, reporting standards, peer review, and the roles and responsibilities of the editor. In addition, the publisher collaborates with the editorial team in determining journal policies.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must fall within the aims and scope of the journal. Submissions must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere. Articles derived from national or international conference presentations (abstract or full text) or from master’s or doctoral theses may be considered for publication, provided that this information is clearly stated at the time of submission.

Following an initial editorial evaluation, manuscripts deemed suitable are sent for double-blind peer review to at least two independent reviewers from national and/or international institutions. Reviewers may request revisions when necessary. Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the reviewers, who assess whether the requested changes have been adequately addressed and provide their final recommendation. Manuscripts that receive positive reviewer evaluations proceed to the editorial process for publication.

Manuscripts that fall outside the scope of the journal, do not comply with scientific writing standards in terms of content and format, or have a similarity index exceeding 20% as determined by plagiarism detection software (iThenticate or Turnitin) may be rejected without initiating the peer review process or returned to the authors for revision. Manuscripts, figures, and images that are not accepted for publication are not returned to the authors.

After a manuscript has been accepted for publication, no author may be removed from the author list, no new author may be added, and the order of authors may not be changed without the written consent of all authors. Authors are responsible for complying with this requirement at the time of submission.
