Effects of Gumus-Noor Series onto the Arab Public: A Social Media Study

Abstract

Since the corruption of Ottoman Empire, the view of Turkish and Arab people is not regarded quite positive. The education system had been provoked this sight in the Arab people which set up by Colonialists and in the Turkish people set up by the sense of Westernist. Global forces’ indirect involvement to the region where shelted important part of world’s oil reserves during decades and their direct intervention after of 90’s by the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions caused similar resistances to these global super-powers by the governments and peoples living in the area. Crystallizing of Turkey as a political and economic power in the region has been developing by the means of presentation of own products to the region’s cultural life. In this context, this article will explicate in the case of Gumus Serial which translated to Arabic and broadcasted in the Middle East effects of Turkish serials to the Arab people. The Arab people between traditional values and values of Modern era especially in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Palestine etc. has been tending to the Muslim-Modern life style is showed in Turkish serials. Turkey if evaluate the obtained popularity thanks to its series in the framework of concept ‘soft power’ will gain familiarity, sympathy, prestige, market opportunities and effienciency in the mentioned geography. In this study, the effects of Gumus series specificly, generally Turkish series on Arab public has examined via social media.

Gümüş Dizisinin Arap Kamuoyuna Etkileri Bir Sosyal Medya İncelemesi

Abstract

Türk ve Arap toplumlarının birbirlerine bakışı, Osmanlı İmparatorluğunun çöküşünden itibaren pek olumlu sayılamazdı. Arap toplumunda sömürgeci güçlerce, Türk toplumunda Batıcı bir anlayışla düzenlenen eğitim müfredatı iki tarafın birbirine karşı olumsuz bakışını kışkırtmaktaydı. Türkiye’nin siyasi ve ekonomik bir güç olarak bölgede belirginleşmesi, bölgenin kültürel hayatına kendi ürünlerini sunmasıyla da gelişmektedir. Bu bağlamda makalemizde, Arapça’ya çevrilerek Ortadoğu’da yayınlanan Gümüş dizisi özelinde, Türk dizilerinin Arap toplumuna ne tür etkiler yaptığını irdelenecektir. Geleneksel değerlerle Modern çağın değerleri arasında kalan Arap toplumu, Türk dizilerinde sunulan Müslüman-Modern hayat tarzına temayül göstermektedir. Türkiye dizileri sayesinde elde ettiği bu popülariteyi ‘yumuşak güç’ kavramı çerçevesinde değerlendirebildiği takdirde bahsi geçen coğrafyada aşinalık, sempati, prestij, pazar ve etkinlik imkanları kazanacaktır. Bu çalışmada özelde Gümüş dizisinin, genelde Türk dizilerinin Arap kamuoyuna etkileri sosyal medya üzerinden incelenmiştir.
