Abstract

With the proclamation of the II. Constitutional Period the periodicals and newspapers, which had carried on their activities underground in the Hamidian era, came into the picture. The literary works, which were not only serialized in these periodicals and newspapers but were also published as books are about daily, worthless political and social subjects. The Fecr-i Ati Encümeni was established in this circumstance. It reminds people that literature was a higher level of esthetic of perception and arguing. Initially Fecr-i Ati poets and authors were sympathizers of the Committee of Union and Progress due to Committee’s opposition to Abdulhamid. However, the assassination of the Ahmet Samim, who was a member of Fecr-i Ati Encümeni, had a negative impact on the relations between Fecr-i Ati and the Committee of Union and Progress. In the II. Constitutional Period, Fecr-i Ati became target of various groups due to their innovative views on literature. Hilal Newspaper, where the Fecr-i Ati poets and authors gathered, was raided. Whereas, they wanted to stay away from the political chaos of the period. Fecr-i Ati Encümeni represented the II. Constitutional Period Literature with twenty-four poets and authors alone. These authors and poets became significant names of the National Literature and Turkish Literature of the Republican Era.

FECR-İ ÂTÎ ENCÜMEN-İ EDEBÎSİ

Abstract

II. Meşrutiyet’in ilanıyla birlikte II. Abdülhamid döneminde faaliyetlerini yeraltında sürdüren mecmua ve gazeteler yer yüzüne çıkar. Gerek bu mecmua ve gazetelerde tefrika edilen, gerekse kitap olarak yayınlanan edebi eserler gündelik, ucuz siyasi ve toplumsal konuları tem edinir. İşte Fecr-i Ati Encümeni bu ortamda kurularak edebiyatın belirli bir üst düzey duyuş ve düşünüş estetiği olduğunu hatırlatır. Fecr-i Ati şair ve yazarları başlangıçta II. Abdülhamid aleyhtarı İttihad ve Terakki Fırkası sempatizanıdır. Lakin encümen üyesi Ahmet Samim’in öldürülüşü Fecr-i Ati ile İttihad ve Terakki Fırkası’nın arasını açar. Fecr-i Ati de edebiyatta yeniliği savunduğundan II. Meşrutiyet yıllarında çeşitli grupların hedefi haline gelir. Fecr-i Ati ediplerinin toplandıkları Hilal Gazetesi baskına uğrar. Hâlbuki onlar dönemin siyasi karışıklığından daima uzak kalmaya çalışır. Fecr-i Ati Encümeni, bünyesine topladığı yirmi dört şair ve yazarıyla neredeyse II. Meşrutiyet dönemi edebiyatını tek başına temsil eder. Bu yazar ve şairler daha sonra Milli Edebiyat ve Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk edebiyatının önemli isimleri olur
