By Erdal Açıkses in his book titled "Missionary Activities of Americans in Harput", the missionary activities and developments of the American Commission in Harput are elaborated. In this study, information about the missionary activities carried out by American missionaries in the geography of the Ottoman Empire in the last period of the Ottoman Empire is presented. In the study, due to the development of political, cultural, and social relations between the Ottoman Empire and the United States are depicted. So, It is given information about the missionary activities carried out by the United States in the territory of the Ottoman Empire in the axis of the Harput Mission is given. In this context, developments and dynamics related to the establishment, activities, and closure of the Harput American mission are discussed in chronological order and in a real political context. In this study, regarding the social impact on the society of the activities that have been performed by American missionaries, reactive responses and measures which are taken by the Republic of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire, and some events that led to the closure of Harput American mission were finally explained.
