Palliative care is a new discipline in the world. Although it is a new discipline, it have been rapidly incorporated into the reimbursement mechanisms of health systems. The aim of this study is to provide information about Turkey's palliative care policy and scope of practices along with some developed countries. This review study was included Canada, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, USA, Japan and Turkey. As a result, palliative care services are part of the national healthcare system in countries such as Canada, UK, Japan, Germany, Denmark, and they are financed by the public healthcare systems. Palliative care is well integrated into the health systems of these countries. When USA is examined, palliative care and hospice care differ from each other. Although the Medicare program provides reimbursment some of the palliative care services in some states, it has been covered all hospis services in all states. The first country to integrete palliative care to hospitals is UK. In addition, it is noteworthy that volunteers are employed in the palliative care centers and put them into legal regulations in the countries included in the study. Moreover, another remarkable point is that cancer patients comprise the majority of palliative care users. When it is evaluated Turkey, legal arrangment and organizing of palliative care service are still very poor and new. Besides also Turkey's palliative care services focuses on pain control to cancer patients.
