Üniversite öğrencilerinin zihinlerindeki erken çocukluk dönemlerine ait baba şeması ve ideal baba figürlerinin incelenmesi

Year 2024, Volume: 6 Issue: 11, 459 - 496, 09.10.2024

Abstract

Ethical Statement

Araştırma, Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Sosyal ve Beşeri Bilimler Bilimsel Araştırmalar Etik Kurulu Başkanlığı’nın 15/01/2021 tarih 2021/40 sayılı kararı ile bilimsel araştırma etiği açısından uygun bulunmuştur.

Examining the father schema and ideal father figures in the minds of university students belonging to early childhood periods

Year 2024, Volume: 6 Issue: 11, 459 - 496, 09.10.2024

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to qualitatively determine the father schema and ideal father figures in the minds of individuals studying at university belonging to early childhood periods. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in this study. The study group consisted of 206 university students studying at universities affiliated to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), selected by convenient sampling method from non-random sampling methods. In the study, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 5 open-ended research questions was used. The interview form was prepared with Web 2.0 tools and data were collected online. Descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the study, the first thing that comes to the minds of the majority of the participants when they think of “father” is the concept of “support”. Most of the participants defined the father as a supportive figure who gives confidence, is the pillar of the house and provides all kinds of help. When their communication with their fathers and the activities they carried out together as children were analyzed, the majority of the participants stated that they had a strong communication with their fathers, and emphasized the activities they enjoyed the most. When asked to resemble their fathers to an object, the majority of the participants identified their fathers with protective objects such as doors and shields and emphasized that they saw them as a protective and reassuring figure. When the views on the requirements of being a father were analyzed, it was seen that most of the participants defined being a father as a role that requires effort and sacrifice. When the views on ideal father characteristics were examined, it was determined that the majority of the participants emphasized that the ideal father should be loving.
