Examining The Effects of Attention Training Programs on Attention, Eye-Hand Coordination and Reaction Time Performance in the case of Exhaustion through Anaerobic Power Test

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of present study was to examine the effects of attention training program on attention, eye-hand coordination and reaction time performance in the case of anaerobic exhaustion and resting state.
Methods: 26 male sports sciences students between the ages of 18-22 participated in the study. The experimental group consists of 13 and the control group consists of 13 students. The effect of 24 sessions 10 minute three times a week attention training program was analysed. During the pre-testing measurements, first at resting position and then immediately afterwards anaerobic exhaustion tests were applied on both training and control groups. In the pre-tests, attention, eye-hand coordination and reaction time were measured in resting and exhaustion conditions. Subsequently, attention training had been implemented on the training group for the duration of 8 weeks and the differences between the two groups were examined. In this study, Wingate Anaerobic Power Test WAnT was used, in order to expose anaerobic exhaustion.
Results: When the training effect is examined; There was a positive significant difference in the attention and hand-eye coordination variables of the experimental group in the resting state (p<0.05). A positive significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test in the attention and hand-eye coordination variables of the control group in the anaerobic exhaustion state (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in reaction time (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Through this study, we observed the effect of attention training on attention, eye-hand coordination and reaction time in the case of anaerobic exhaustion and resting state. It was found that attention training contributed relatively to measurement parameters in the experimental group. Attention performance in anaerobic fatigue is more successful in the control group than in the experimental group. This performance in the anaerobic state can be explained by the lactate shuttle hypothesis.

Dikkat ve Koordinasyon Çalışmalarının Anaerobik Yorgunluk Altındaki Dikkat, El-Göz Koordinasyonu ve Reaksiyon Süresi Performansına Etkisinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı sekiz hafta süresince deney grubuna uygulanan dikkat ve koordinasyon antrenman programının, dikkat performansına olan etkisini, dinlenik ve anaerobik yorgunluk durumunda ölçmek ve değerlendirmektir.
Materyal ve Metot: Araştırmaya, Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi öğrencisi deney grubu 13, kontrol grubu 13 toplam 26 erkek öğrenci dahil edilmiştir. Dikkat, el-göz koordinasyonu ve reaksiyon süresi değişkenlerini içeren, dinlenik ve yorgunluk durumundaki ön-testlerin ardından deney grubuna 8 hafta boyunca haftada 3 kez olmak üzere 24 seanslık dikkat ve koordinasyon antrenmanları uygulanmış, daha sonra son-testler dinlenik ve yorgunluk durumunda tekrar edilmiştir. Anaerobik yorgunluk için Wingate Anaerobik Güç Testi (WAnT) kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Dikkat antrenmanları sonunda, deney grubunun dinlenik durumdaki dikkat ve el-göz koordinasyonu değişkenlerinde pozitif anlamlı fark ortaya çıkmıştır (p <0.05). Kontrol grubunun yorgun durumdaki dikkat ve el-göz koordinasyonu değişkenlerinde ön-test ve son testler arasında pozitif anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (p <0.05). Her iki grupta reaksiyon süresi değişkeninde anlamlı bir fark ortaya çıkmamıştır (p> 0.05).
Sonuç: Bu çalışma ile, dikkat antrenmanlarının, çalışmalara dahil edilen deney grubunun dinlenik durumdaki dikkat ve el-göz koordinasyonu değişkenlerine olumlu etkide bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Kontrol grubunun anaerobik yorgunluk altında dikkat ve el-göz koordinasyonu değişkenlerinde deney grubuna göre daha iyi performans ortaya koyması “lactate shuttle” hipotezi ile açıklanabilir. Bu çalışma sonucunda sportif başarının artırılması için antrenör ve sporculara dikkat ve koordinasyon çalışmalarının önemi vurgulanarak bu tip egzersizlerin antrenman programlarına eklenmesi gerektiği önerilmektedir.
