Social Activities, behavior and attitude about health of Medical Students of Uludağ University

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the social activity participations and the attitudes of their health of the medical students of Uludağ University. The questionnaire was applied to 408 medical students totally, 185 of them were first year and 223 of them were last (6th) year medical students. Data were collected by face to face interviews using a questionnaire with 22 questions included habits such as having PC, using internet, reading daily newspaper, going to cinema, concert and theatre, playing chess, knowing english, smoking and drinking alcohol and attitudes about health. 22.9% of the medical students have private computers, 19.1% of them use internet in advenced level, 46.4% of them have an e-mail address, 51.7% of them read daily newspaper, 39.7% of them read paramedical publications. The percentage of medical who have gone to the cinema during last month was 56.4%, to a concert 19.6% and to the theatre 21.0%. 15.2%of the students know and play chess.10.1% of the students know english very well, however 96.3% of them believe that english is necessary for medical student.47.0 % of the students have no girl or boy friend.The percentage of smoking is 21.8%, drinking alcohol is 32.4%, vaccination for hepatit B is 30.6%,doing physical activity regularly is 6.15%.Eventually it was found out that the majority of the students have participated social activities less and didn't care about their health.

Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Aktiviteleri ve Sağlıkla İlgili Tutum ve Davranışları

Abstract

Bu çalışma Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin sosyal aktivitelere katılımı ve sağlıkla ilgili davranışlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Anket, 1.sınıf öğrencilerinden 185 kişi, 6.sınıf öğrencilerinden 223 kişi olmak üzere toplam 408 kişiye uygulanmıştır. Kişisel bilgisayara sahip olma, internet kullanma, günlük gazete okuma, sinema,konser ve tiyatroya gitme, satranç oynama, ingilizce bilme, sigara içme ve alkol kullanma gibi alışkanlıkları ile sağlıkla ilgili tutumlarını içeren 22 soruluk anket formu yüzyüze görüşme yöntemiyle doldurulmuştur. Öğrencilerin özel bilgisayara sahip olma oranı %22.9, iyi düzeyde internet kullanmasını bilme oranı %19.1;e –mail adresine sahip olma oranı %46.5, günlük gazete okuma oranı %51.7 , tıp dışı yayın izleme oranı %39.7 bulunmuştur. Son 1 ay içerisinde sinemaya gitme oranı %56.4, konsere gitme oranı %19.6, tiyatroya gitme oranı %21.0 bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin %15.2'si satranç bilip oynamakta, %10.1'i ileri düzeyde ingilizce bilmekte, %96.3'ü ingilizcenin gerekli olduğuna inanmaktadır.%47.0'ın karşı cinsle arkadaşlığı bulunmamaktadır. Öğrencilerin sigara kullanma oranı %21.8, alkol kullanma oranı %32.4, düzenli kahvaltı yapma oranı %34.3, hepatit B aşısı yaptırma oranları %30.6, düzenli spor yapma oranı %6.1 bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun sosyal aktivitelere katılmadığı ve çoğunlukla kendi sağlıklarını önemsemedikleri saptanmıştır.
