Pediatric Head Injury

Abstract

Traumatic injury to the pediatric cranium accounts for twice as many deaths as cancer and congenital malformations combined. The brain and its protective coverings are in dynamic continuum of maturation and many of the effects of trauma are based on the stage of neurodevelopment at the tıme of injury. This article discusses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, diagnostic workup and treatment protocol of mass lesion and intracranial hypertansion after trauma in the pediatric population.

Çocukluk Çağı Kafa Travmaları

Abstract

Pediatrik kafa travmaları, kanser ve konjenital malformasyonlardan iki kat daha fazla ölüme neden olmaktadır. Beyin ve koruyucu yapıların gelişimi dinamik bir süreçtir ve travmanın etkileri hasarlanma zamanının, nöral doku gelişiminin hangi evresinde olduğuna bağlıdır. Bu derlemede, pediatrik populasyondaki travmaların epidemiyolojisi, patogenezi, bulguları ve semptomları, tanı metodları, kitle lezyonları ve intrakraniyal hipertansiyonun tedavi protokolleri tartışılmıştır.
