A Questionnaire Study: Anatomy Education And Student's Views

Abstract

A questionnaire was prepared by the Anatomy Department of Medical School of the Uludag University and presented to 191 students in the beginning of the fourth semester to evaluate their thoughts about their anatomy education in the first and third semesters. 82.7 % of the students (n=158; 53% female and 47 % male) stated that choosing medicine to study was their own will. 68.6 % of the students (n=131) stated they were regularly attending the theoretical lectures in classrooms; 58% of these students think that these lectures are inadequate, while overall inadequacy is expressed by 52.9 % (n=101) of the students. The elective classes opened by the anatomy department were within the first five subjects to be preferred by 82 students (42.9%). Almost half of the students (49.7%) were in favor of studying by themselves. 67% of the students (n=128) requested that the anatomy lectures were to be fully integrated with the clinics. Cadaver was considered as “a must” in anatomy education by 91.1% of the students, while 176 (92.1%) asked for educational materials together with cadavers. Anatomy education was considered to make 45.5% of the students “feel studying in a medical school totally”, while 47.6% responded that the role of the anatomy education was “partly” the reason of such a feeling.

Bir Anket Çalışması: Anatomi Eğitimi ve Öğrencilerin Düşünceleri

Abstract

Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi Anabilim Dalı tarafından bir anket oluşturulmuş ve 4. yarıyıl başlangıcındaki toplam 191 öğrenci, 1. ve 3. yarıyıllarda aldıkları anatomi eğitimi hakkındaki düşüncelerinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Tıp fakültesine kendi isteğiyle girdiğini ifade eden 158 öğrencinin (% 82.7), % 53'ünün kız % 47'sinin erkek olduğu görülmüştür. 131 öğrencinin (% 68.6) kuramsal derslere devam ettiği, 101 öğrencinin (% 52.9) dersleri yetersiz bulduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Derslere devam eden öğrenciler de (n=131) ise bu oran % 58 olarak bulunmuştur. Kişisel çalışmayı 95 (% 49.7) öğrencinin tercih ettiği, 82 öğrencinin (% 42.9) ise seçmeli derslerde Anatomi Anabilim Dalı'nın açtığı seçmeli dersleri ilk beş sırada tercih ettiği gözlenmiştir. Ankete katılan öğrencilerden 128 (% 67) öğrencinin, anatomi ders konularının tümüyle klinik bilgilerle beraber verilmesini istedikleri; 174 öğrencinin (% 91.1) kadavra çalışmalarının anatomi eğitiminde mutlaka yer alması gerektiğini; 176 öğrencinin ise (% 92.1) kadavra dışı yardımcı ders araçlarının da kullanılması gerektiğini ifade ettikleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Ayrıca, 91 öğrenci (% 47.6) verilen anatomi eğitiminin öğrenciyi tıp fakültesinde olduğunu hissettirme rolü için “kısmen” yanıtını verirken 87 öğrenci (% 45.5) “tamamıyla” yanıtını vermiştir.
