Evaluation of Our Patients With Hearing Loss
Abstract
Hearing loss may be occur due to various etiologic factors and may cause speaking difficulties and psychosocial problems. However, it is clear that detection of hearing loss is not easy in childhood. Aim of this study is to investigate the charecteristics of our patients with hearing loss by using BERA test (Brainstem Evoked Response Auditory). Five hundred fourty patients were included in this study. Hearing loss was detected in 29 (5,4 %) patients. The group having hearing loss consisted of 10 children with cerebral palsy, 9 children with psychomotor retardation, 1 child with epilepsy, 1 normal child and 8 children with various illnesses. The mean age of our patients was 26. 4±4. 4 (mean ± SD) months.
