Burn as a Result of Contact With Electric Radiator

Abstract

Although advancement in medicine and technology, burn is a serious problem that threatening life. The most effective and inexpensive way is to prevent burn injury before occurence. In childhood, the most common seen etiology is boiled water. In childhood especially younger than 4 years old, burn injury is more serious than adult. This age group is more in risk because of not having the ability to perceive the danger and to take measures. The case presented in this study is a 22-month child who burned with electrical radiator because of getting stuck between sofa and radiator. On physical examination, she had a lineer first and second degree burns including all of the body. The total area of the burn was %5-6. The burn area of the patient was healed by the medical and dressing treatment methods in Burn Unit of the Department of Plastic Surgery in Medical Faculty of Uludağ University. By this case, we want to emphasize that these burn accidents can be prevented by basic family educations.
