The Evaluation of Patients Transported to a University Hospital Emergency Department with Air Ambulance

Abstract

Air rescue system are an important element of the pre-hospital emergency health care services. The aim of this study was to evaluate air ambulance services that are new for our region. Patients who were brought from the scene or any health center and those referred from our hospital within the last year were included to this prospective study. Data of patients were recorded and statistically compared. A total of 175 patients, of whom 137 patients referred to and 38 referred from Emergency Department (ED), were included in this study. Majority of the patients (62.8%) were male with a mean age of 31.7±26.0. When the times of arrival to the hospital were analyzed, patients were seen to be transferred in median 30 (min-max 4-139) minutes. When the results are examined, 50.3% of the patients were admitted to the hospital, 25.1% were referred to another health center, 21.7% were discharged and 2.9% were died. Helicopter ambulance plays an important role in the transfer of the critically-ill patients, providing a faster and efficient transport if the patients are selected.

Bir Üniversite Hastanesi Acil Servisine Hava Ambulansı ile Nakledilen Olguların Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Hava kurtarma sistemi hastane öncesi acil sağlık hizmetlerinin önemli bir unsurudur ve tüm dünyada hava ambulanslarının kullanımı hızla artmaktadır. Bu çalışmada bölgemiz için yeni bir uygulama olan hava ambulans hizmetlerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Prospektif olarak yürütülen çalışmaya, bir yıl içinde hava ambulansıyla olay yerinden veya herhangi bir sağlık kuruluşundan getirilen veya hava ambulansıyla hastanemizden sevk edilen hastalar alınmıştır. Hasta verileri kaydedilmiş ve istatistiksel olarak karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmaya acil servise (AS) sevkle gelen 137 hasta ve AS'den sevk edilen 38 hasta olmak üzere toplam 175 hasta alındı. Hastaların çoğu (%62.8) erkek ve yaş ortalaması 31.7±26.0 idi. Hastaların hastaneye varış süresi incelendiğinde, medyan taşıma süresinin 30 (min-maks=4-139) dakika olduğu gözlendi. Sonuçlanmalarına bakıldığında; %50.3'ü yatırılırken, %25.1'i başka bir sağlık kurumuna sevk, %21.7'si taburcu edildi ve %2.9 hasta ise hayatını kaybetti. Kritik olan hastaların transferinde helikopter ambulans önemli bir rol alarak, uygun hasta gruplarında daha hızlı ve etkin transport sağlamaktadır.
