Breast Implant as a Life Saviour

Abstract

Since Cronin and Gerow began to use a silicone bag filled with silicone gel for breast augmentation, silicone gel breast implants have been widely used for over 50 years. Numerous studies demonstrated that the strength and resistance of breast implant decrease in time. In our case report; a female patient who underwent breast augmentation 10 years ago was stabbed from her chest. Right breast implant were ruptured and a hemopnomotorax developed. Breast implant absorbed the force of the attack and prevented a more serious result.

Bir Can Kurtaran Olarak Meme İmplantı

Abstract

Cronin ve Gerow`un silikon jel ile doldurulmuş silikon torbaları meme büyütme amaçlı kullanmasından beri silikon jel implantlar 50 yıl boyunca yaygınlaştı. İmplantların yerleştirilmesiyle beraber yıllar geçtikçe implant dayanıklılığının azaldığı ve rüptür ihtimalinin arttığı birçok çalışmada gösterilmiştir. Sunduğumuz olguda; 10 yıl önce meme büyütme operasyonu geçiren bir hasta bıçaklı saldırıya uğramıştır. Sağ meme implantı rüptüre olmuş ve sağ hemopnömotoraks gelişmiştir. Meme implantının varlığı darbenin şiddetini abzorbe ederek daha dramatik bir durumun gelişmesini önlemiştir.
