A Breast Cancer Patient Depending on The Extravasation of Vinorelbine Chemotherapy

Abstract

Extravasation is one of the most important complications that may be encountered during the administration of chemotherapy drugs. This can lead to severe tissue necrosis and complications that can result in loss of function due to a mild wound. In particular, the right breast with total breast cancer mastectomy and long-term chemotherapy in a patient with right-sided lymphadenopathy increases the risk of extravasation. A 67-year-old female patient with metastatic breast cancer did not complain of vinorelbine- cisplatin treatment. After 24 hours, she developed pain, burning, erythema, edema and local induration at home and bullosa after 10 days of treatment. The aim of the case report is to emphasize the importance of training in extravasation, correct / early intervention and nursing care by drawing attention to the extension of the healing process as a result of late intervention due to lack of knowledge in extravasation due to vinorelbine treatment.
