Evaluating National Publication Sources in The Field of Management Information Systems

Abstract

TRDizin and the DergiPark platform are significant initiatives for performing and tracking research and publication activities more coordinated. Relevant journals typically survive at a national level before being improved and accepted by worldwide indexes. As a result, uncovering and increasing these publications' research impact also helps raise their international profile. In this respect, the objective of this study, which focuses on the topic of management information systems (MIS), is to expose the bibliometric structure of the publications of six TRDizin-indexed journals that include MIS studies. General statistics concerning DergiPark and TRDizin are included in the research, and comprehensive bibliometric data delivered to users by TRDizin for chosen publications from 2010 to 2021. As a result, the MIS field's research impact is measured in the publishing portfolio of linked journals. Because a business intelligence application environment was employed instead of current software packages for analyses and visualizations, non-standard, configurable, and interactive dashboards with data-specific preprocessing were created. Highlights and discussion points, and assumptions regarding other bibliometric aspects, and the present state of publications are included in the findings. The research also acts as a decision-making tool for MIS authorities and journal executives regarding results and representation.

Yönetim Bilişim Sistemleri Alanında Ulusal Yayın Kaynaklarının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Dergipark platformu ve TRDizin, araştırma ve yayıncılık faaliyetlerinin daha organize bir şekilde yürütülmesi ve takibi açısından önemli girişimlerdir. İlgili dergiler, öncelikli olarak ulusal düzeyde varlıklarını sürdürmekte ve daha da gelişerek uluslararası endekslerce kabul edilebilir hale gelmektedir. Dolayısıyla, bu dergilerin yarattığı araştırma etkisinin ortaya konması ve güçlendirilmesi, aynı zamanda uluslararası arenadaki görünürlüğüne katkı sunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda yönetim bilişim sistemleri (YBS) alanına odaklanan araştırmanın amacı, TRDizin’de endekslenen ve kapsamına YBS ile ilgili çalışmaları dahil eden altı dergiye ait yayınların bibliyometrik yapısını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada, Dergipark ve TRDizin hakkında genel istatistikler verilmekte ve 2010-2021 yılları arasında seçilen dergiler için TRDizin tarafından kullanıcılarına sunulan detaylı bibliyometrik veriler analiz edilmektedir. Böylece, YBS alanın araştırma etkisi, ilgili dergilerin ortaya koyduğu yayın portföyü açısından değerlendirilmektedir. Analizler ve görseller için hazır bir paket program yerine, bir iş zekası uygulama ortamından yararlanılmış, dolayısıyla, veriye özel önişlemlerin yapıldığı, standart olmayan, kişiselleştirilebilir ve etkileşimli çalışan gösterge panelleri tasarlanmıştır. Bulgular, ön plana çıkan ve tartışılan konularla birlikte diğer bibliyometrik karakteristikler hakkında çıkarımları içermekte ve yayınların mevcut durumunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bulgular ve sunum şekli açısından, çalışma, YBS alanının otoriteleri ve dergi yöneticileri için aynı zamanda bir karar destek aracı işlevi de barındırmaktadır.
