Abstract

Katherine Anne Kendall’s scholarly contributions played a pivotal role in reshaping the theoretical foundations and practical dimensions of social work education in alignment with international standards. Her pioneering efforts laid a strong foundation for the institutionalization of social work as a profession and academic discipline through a systematic and practice-oriented educational framework. The international standards that define contemporary social work education and guide academic programs across many countries are, to a significant extent, rooted in Kendall’s visionary work. This article explores Kendall’s life and her substantial theoretical and structural contributions to social work education, aiming to serve as a resource for future scholarly inquiries into both her legacy and the historical development of social work education.

Katherine A. Kendall’ın Yaşamı ve Sosyal Hizmet Eğitimine Katkıları

Abstract

Katherine Anne Kendall’ın akademik katkıları, sosyal hizmet eğitiminin teorik temelleri ile uygulama süreçlerinin uluslararası ölçütler doğrultusunda yeniden şekillendirilmesinde önemli bir rol oynamış; bu katkılar, sosyal hizmet meslek ve disiplininin sistematik ve uygulamaya dayalı bir eğitim anlayışıyla kurumsallaşmasına güçlü bir temel oluşturmuştur. Sosyal hizmet eğitiminin günümüzde ulaştığı uluslararası standartlar ve bu standartların birçok ülkedeki eğitim programlarına yön vermesi, büyük ölçüde Katherine Anne Kendall’ın öncü nitelikteki çalışmalarıyla temellenmiştir. Bu makale, Kendall’ın yaşam öyküsü ile sosyal hizmet eğitimine sağladığı kuramsal ve yapısal katkıları incelemekte olup, ileride gerçekleştirilecek akademik araştırmalar için hem Kendall’ın mirasına hem de sosyal hizmet eğitiminin tarihsel evrimine ışık tutacak bir kaynak olmayı amaçlamaktadır.
