Education Based on The Nursing Theory of Wiedenbach for Individuals with a stoma

Abstract

Nursing
theories provide guidance to nurses in assessing the health of individuals, in
organizing and evaluating the data obtained in nursing care and in explaining
these data based on evidence. One of these nursing theories is “The Helping Art
of Clinical Nursing” created by Wiedenbach in 1964. In Wiedenbach's theory, the
application of nursing knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the patient is
defined as art. According to this theory, an individual's need for help is
determined, met and the status of the need to be met evaluated in nursing
practices. After the stoma surgery in which the excretion pattern changes, there
is not only a physical change in the individual. Individuals are also affected
in many ways such as body perception, sense of independence, sexual life,
eating habits, social life. Nurses have important duties and responsibilities
regarding the education of individuals in the process of living with the stoma.
The nursing theory of Wiedenbach provides guidance to nurses in the education
process needed to meet the care needs and educational needs of individuals with
a stoma. In this regard, it is considered useful to use Wiedenbach's theory as
a conceptual framework in the education of individuals with a stoma.

STOMASI OLAN BİREYLERİN WIEDENBACH'IN HEMŞİRELİK KURAMINA DAYALI EĞİTİMİ

Abstract

Hemşirelik kuramları;
bireylerin sağlığının değerlendirilmesinde, hemşirelik bakımında elde edilen
verilerin düzenlenip değerlendirilmesinde ve bu verilerin kanıta dayalı olarak
açıklanmasında hemşirelere rehberlik etmektedir. Bu kuramlardan biri
Wiedenbach’ın 1964 yılında ortaya koyduğu “Bir Yardım Sanatı Olarak Hemşirelik”  kuramıdır. Wiedenbach’ın kuramında, hastanın
ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak amacıyla hemşirelik bilgi ve becerilerinin uygulanması
sanat olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu kurama göre hemşirelik uygulamalarında;
bireyin yardım ihtiyacı saptanır, bu ihtiyaç karşılanır ve ihtiyacının
karşılanıp karşılanmadığı değerlendirilir. Boşaltım şeklinin değiştiği stoma
cerrahisi sonrası, bireyde sadece fiziksel değişiklik olmamakla birlikte birey
beden algısı, bağımsızlık duygusu, cinsel yaşam, beslenme alışkanlığı, sosyal
yaşam gibi birçok yönden etkilenmektedir. Stoma ile yaşamayı sürdürme sürecinde
bireylerin eğitimi konusunda hemşirelere önemli görev ve sorumluluklar
düşmektedir. Stomalı bireylerin yardım ihtiyaçlarına yönelik bakımın ve eğitim
gereksinimlerinin giderilmesi için gereken eğitim sürecinde Wiedenbach’ın
hemşirelik kuramı hemşirelere yol gösterici olmaktadır. Bu açıdan, stomalı
bireylerin eğitimlerinde, Wiedenbach’ın kuramının kavramsal çerçeve olarak
kullanılmasının yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir
