Determination of the Levels of Magnesium and Phosphorus of Akkaraman Sheep in Pasture Period in Van Province

Abstract





This study was undertaken to investigate the
Magnesium (Mg) and Phosphorus (P) levels in the blood serum and wool from
clinically healthy Akkaraman ewes grazed in pastures in the Van region. The
studies were carried out on 87 Akkaraman ewes from districts of Van (Central,
Özalp, Gürpınar, Gevaş, Erciş). The Mg and P values were determined by ICP-OES
(ICAP Thermoscientific) device. The average Mg levels of the blood serum were
lower than the normal values. The lowest P level was found in Özalp district (p<0.01).
In addition, it was found that the P level of the blood serum in the Özalp
district was below the normal values, unlike the other regions. As a result, in
all districts of Van, the sheep in the pasture should be supplemented with Mg.
In addition, the P mineral substance should be given to the sheep in the Özalp
district.

Van İlinde Mera Dönemindeki Akkaraman koyunlarının Serum ve Yünlerinde Magnezyum ve Fosfor Seviyelerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu
çalışmada Van bölgesindeki meralarda otlayan, klinik olarak sağlıklı görünen Akkaraman
koyunlarının serum ve yünlerindeki Magnezyum (Mg) ve fosfor (P) düzeylerinin
araştırılması amaçlandı. Çalışma materyalini Van’ın ilçelerinden (Merkez, Özalp,
Gürpınar, Gevaş, Erciş)  toplanan toplam 87’şer
adet serum ve yün numuneleri oluşturdu. Elde edilen serum ve yün örneklerinin Mg
ve P değerleri ICP-OES (ICAP Thermoscientific) cihazıyla ölçüldü. Kan serum
değerlerinde saptanan Mg seviyeleri normal değerlerin altında gözlenmiştir. P
seviyesi Özalp ilçesinde diğer ilçelere göre önemli oranda (p<0.01) düşük
olduğu gözlenmiştir. Özalp ilçesindeki P düzeyinin, diğer ilçelerin aksine,
olması gereken normal değerlerin altında olduğu saptanmıştır. Koyun yünlerinde
saptanan Mg ve P düzeyleri yapılan diğer çalışmalarla kıyaslandığında düşük
olarak tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak mera döneminde Magnezyum'un Van merkez
ve ilçelerinin meralarında otlayan koyunların rasyonlarına, fosfor'un da Özalp
ilçesindeki koyunların rasyonlarına ilavesinin yapılması faydalı olacaktır.
