Achaimenid Period In The Great Zab And Littel Zab Rivers Of Iraq

Abstract

This study focuses on the climate, topography and general framework of the region. Ancient settlements, historical events, road routes and the topography of the Iraqi Zagros that point to the Achaemenid period were evaluated within the context of historical records. These sources are the Babylonian annals and the Behistun monument of Darius I (521-519 BC). The information required was evaluated in order to illuminate the Achaemenid period in the region and to reveal the general situation. By shaping our research within the framework of important centers whose names were recorded with the help of historical texts, it was aimed to reach wider information about these places. In this context, 3 archaeological centers were examined. These were excavated by local and foreign archaeologists. Among them, studies were concentrated on those belonging to the Achaemenid period. The study was continued by comparing these samples with the Achaemenid period centers elsewhere.

IRAK'IN BÜYÜK ZAB VE KÜÇÜK ZAB NEHİRLERİNDEKİ AHEMENİD DÖNEMİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın bölgenin iklimi, topografyası ve genel çerçevesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Akhamenid döneme işaret eden antik yerleşimler, tarihsel olaylar yol rotaları ve Irak Zağroslarının topografyası tarihsel kayıtlar kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Bu kaynaklar Babil yıllıkları, I. Darius'un Behistun anıtı (MÖ521-519). Burada gerekli görülen bilgiler bölgedeki Akhamenid dönemin aydınlatılması ve genel durumun ortaya koyulabilmesi açısından değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Tarihsel metinler yardımıyla adları kayıtlara geçen önemli merkezler çerçevesinde araştırmalarımızı şekillendirerek buralar hakkında daha geniş bilgilere ulaşmaya çalıştık. Bu kapsamda 3 arkeolojik merkezde inceleme yapılmıştır. Bunlardan yerli ve yabancı arkeologlar tarafından kazılmış durumdadır. İçlerinde Akhamenid döneme ait olanlar üzerinde çalışmalar yoğunlaştırılmıştır. Bu örnekler başka yerlerdeki Akhamenid dönem merkezleri ile karşılaştırılarak çalışma sürdürülmüştür.
