Abstract
In the study, the movie of Rüzgarda Salınan Nilüfer is tried to be analyzed sociologically based on a Bourdieuan approach, specific to two families representing the middle class, and in line with the concepts of space, capital and habitus. The movie has a narrative through two families representing the new middle classes. On the one part, there is a family with a lower cultural capital density but a higher economic capital density; on the other hand, there is a second family with a higher cultural capital intensity but a lower economic capital intensity. Attempts to establish supremacy in the cultural field, the differences in the economic field, the cultural capital accumulation, eating and drinking practices in the context of the movie, divided into four sections of Bourdieuan tried to be considered from one point of view. Strategies and tactics developed by families struggling to gain status in the cultural field according to their cultural capital are conveyed to the audience throughout the movie. The focus is on the middle classes separating themselves from others with their lifestyles and habitus shaped in the context of their economic and cultural capital.
