Öz

İtalyancada kullanılan traduttore traditore deyimi, tercüman veya mütercimin mecazi olarak hain olduğunu ifade eder. Diller arasında çeviri yapılırken gerçekten bir hainlik söz konusu mudur? Yoksa bu sadece tercüman veya mütercimlerin yetersizliğinden ortaya çıkan bir sorun mudur? Ancak yapılan yanlış bir tercüme, bu makalede izlenebileceği gibi muhtemelen son derece vahim sonuçları beraberinde taşıyacaktır. Makalede genel olarak diller arası çeviri konusu ve tarih boyunca yapılan önemli hatalar incelenmekte; enformatik alanında kullanılan beş temel kavramın Türkçe karşılıkları derinliğine irdelenmektedir.

IF SYNCING IS THINKING AND THINKING IS FAKE, ARE WE THINKING AT ALL, OR JUST THOUGHTS THAT WE MAKE?

Öz

The Italian dictum traduttore, traditore conveys the idea that a translator or interpreter is inherently a traitor. This raises a fundamental question: does translation between languages truly entail an act of betrayal, or are the difficulties rather the result of the translator’s or interpreter’s limitations? As the present article illustrates, however, a mistranslation can, in certain contexts, lead to profoundly serious consequences. More broadly, this study addresses the issue of interlingual translation and surveys of major errors recorded throughout history. In addition, it undertakes a detailed examination of the Turkish equivalents of five key concepts employed in the field of informatics.
