THE PSYCHOSOCIAL AND MOTIVATIONAL EFFECTS OF PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEER PIANO STUDENTS: THE CASE OF KIZILCAHAMAM
Abstract
Derived from the Latin word “amo” love, amateur, or in other words, self-centered music approach and education can be defined as the educational process that individuals receive in order to satisfy a pleasure in line with their interests and desires. The situation created by this amateur spirit and excitement in the music education journey allows individuals to shape their activities that they enjoy as hobbies. Our research understands the psychosocial effects that occur in students who receive self-centered piano education as a result of the education they receive for the first time and the motivational effects that musicians who receive self-centered education create on their own. Descriptive situation analysis was conducted in the research were included among the data collection techniques.
When some of the results obtained in the research are considered, it has been seen that the concert has introduced classical music and piano to the district in a positive way, that being able to put on a stage performance has contributed to the positive development of piano students who have received diligent education, and that these positive effects have played a major role in increasing their self-confidence due to the feeling of achievement and in seeing themselves as sufficient and competent in this field. At the same time, it is important that the positive motivation experienced can contribute not only to the music and piano field, but also to the rest of the students' lives, and that it can serve as a guide for them in every aspect of their lives with the self-confidence that comes with being able to perform on stage in front of a crowd. Providing a piano to one of the municipal facilities within the scope of the project after the concert is very important in terms of social contribution, considering that it allows amateur students who have difficulty in obtaining a piano or who do not have the means to practice piano lessons. In addition, it is anticipated that this situation will increase interest in pianos in the district and will be a step that will encourage families to purchase pianos in the future.
