MELANCHOLY IN SAIT FAIT ABASIYANIK'S STORIES
Abstract
Increasing emphasis on loneliness, loss, escape and idleness of conflict psychology in Sait Faik's works suggest that he had a melancholic behavior. Artist's melancholy has been seen as an important source in the sense of creativity. Studies on Sait Faik offer more psychological and biological dimensions on this increasing melancholy and focus on his personality rather than his stories. Melancholic aspects of his stories are easily read in the perimeter of the wish of an emptiness, that is looked for but not exactly identified, to be seen in the person and the society. This melancholy is also related to the author's incapability of speaking from a settled world and the lost and sought system of values.
