ON FÂİK ALİ'S POEM MİDHAT PAŞA
Abstract
Midhat Paşa was a statesman of the Tanzimat Era, which is an important period in Turkish history. Deemed a successful statesman with his bureaucratic works, Midhat Paşa attracts interest especially with his tragic life he lived after his Jailing out of favor. With all these features of his, he has become the subject matter both of litterateurs and historians. Probably the first one of these works is the long poem "Midhat Paşa" written by Fâik Ali, who is one of the Servet-i Fünun poets. In this poem, Faik Ali approached and narrated Midhat Paşa with his various aspects. In this article, firstly the perception and narrations of Midhat Paşa are studied, and then the transcription of the poem "Midhat Paşa" is presented.
