The Solution of Groundwater Problem Using Finite Differences Method

Abstract

In this study, differential equation of groundwater flow under steady state condition was developed. Then, this equation was arranged for finite difference solution. An iteration method was also developed to provide solution of computer software. In the iteration process, Gauss Seidel iteration method wherein the equations were derived to perform the solution was also explained in the paper. Later, an aquifer problem developed by Todd was studied, digitized. A QBASIC software solving that problem was also introduced. By this way, it was determined that groundwater flow calculation by finite difference method is quite easy and pratic.
